Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s hard to keep up with all these Hallmark Holidays, but Secretary’s Day and Week will soon be upon us. Per the International Association of Administrative Professionals:

Administrative Professionals Week® ―Always observed annually during the last full week in April, standard Sunday through Saturday calendar week. Administrative Professionals Day® ―Observed annually on the Wednesday of Administrative Professionals Week.

Now that that’s straight, let’s all célèbrent la Fête des Secrétaires 2008!®®®®®®®®®®®®®

And in case you forget, this florist in the Civic Center has a helpful reminder:

What a great day

The Huffington Post Reports 100% of Obama Workers are “Optimistic and Fully Committed to the Campaign!”

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

The Huffington Post’s Off The Bus project has a webpage that describes the “current mood” of 792 Barack Obama workers.

Turns out that, even last year, all 792 were “Optimistic and Fully Committed to the Campaign!”

Wow. Wonder how they feel these days. Some of them might be livid  but you just can’t tell.

Sadly, Hillary Clinton workers appear to not have their own webpage. You’ll just have to guess to see how they are feeling.

The Great Blue Heron Watch is Once Again On in Golden Gate Park

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s that time of year again when giant herons return to their home island on Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park.

This particular domestic partnership is shown high atop a Monterey Cypress changing shifts as they take turns guarding their nest and hunting for seafood and pocket gophers. Mmmm, pocket gophers.

Come and watch them on Saturdays per this schedule from San Francisco Nature Education when people like naturalist Nancy DeStefanis can hep you to what’s going on and offer you a free close-up view of the avian activities.

See you there!

Street Scene - San Francisco’s United Nations Plaza at Market Street

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

This recent detention of a couple people who obviously had some kind of altercation in San Francisco’s U.N. Plaza attracted attention from hundreds of onlookers. Both detainees had blood visible on them. One of them took an argumentative approach (”yes, I have paraphanalia, but I don’t have any drugs on me”) while the other kept quiet.

What happened? Who was at fault for attempted robbery or whatever? Impossible to tell.

On it goes…
