Page Street Cyclist Gets Ticketed By The Man – Another SFPD Enforcement Action?

Here was the scene this morning during the A.M. drive – a cyclist getting ticketed by a motorcycle officer. Don’t know the details of this particular incident, but it wouldn’t be hard for you to find cyclists blowing stop signs or red lights at any intersection in San Francisco.

Individual officers sometimes get on a kick and issue tickets for the same type of infraction over and over all day. If you get cops acting together, as sometimes happens, then you’d call it an enforcement action. They could go after drivers who roll through stop signs, or pedestrians who jaywalk – you never know.

Harley Davidson of a bitch! Yet another ticket from a Dudley Perkins-motosickle-riding buckethead.

Some would like to see Page become the Page St. Bicycle Boulevard - this would allow cyclists to maintain speed. Traffic circles were tried before, but those things proved unpopular.

Leave us turn to Idaho for the answer – stop signs mean “stop” for drivers but mean “yield” for cyclists:

                                  TITLE  49
                                MOTOR VEHICLES
                                  CHAPTER 7
                           PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLES
    49-720.  STOPPING — TURN AND STOP SIGNALS. (1) A person operating a
bicycle or human-powered vehicle approaching a stop sign shall slow down and,
if required for safety, stop before entering the intersection.

What’s wrong with California having a similar law?

Let’s be careful out there.

Hey! This is the PARK STATION police….notorious for the MOST vindictive in the city………. Lawyers that have dealt with the PARK POLICE BULIES concur that they are “looking for a reason” to hassle people so that they have something to “report”. Particular cops have been called out and forced open private doors, refused to leave by putting their foot in doors, illegally searched property and personal belongings, and made up false charges in order to arrst a person who refused to give name. FALSE ARRESTS FROM PARK STATION ARE HIGHER THAN ANY OTHER STATION.but don’t look for prof(it dos exist and some people(1) have real stats) they cover it up even though the SUNSHINE ORDINANCE forbid this. THEY HAVE ILLEGALLY DETAINED VICTIMS and arrested victims under false pretennse….Lawsuits (which the public is NOT allowed to be part of) are rambate pertaining to the PARK POLICE AND THEIR BULLY TACTIC. REPORT MISCONDUCT ONLINE AND PUT PHOTOS ON YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!

If I had to deal with Haight St riff-raff all the time I’d be pretty pissed off too.

well im happy to see that at least he was wearing a helmet.
I got a ticket once, 4-5 years ago, and wasn’t happy about it but hey, whatever. I get pretty upset to see cyclists blowing red lights all the time and fast too! concerns me as a pedestrian and cyclist, nevermind their (our) safety.
I strongly believe that cyclists should also stay off the sidewalks, it is a dangerous to both the rider and a pedestrian ( I almost got hit by this rider exiting a grocery store small exit) arggh!

It just shows that they must be out to make some bucks off of anyone. Grab the old lady and ticket her for jaywalking.
