White House hopefuls and famous Greens Ralph Nader & Matt Gonzalez didn’t really participate in this Green Party debate at the Herbst Theater earlier in the year but, oddly enough, they’re in the presidential race anyway. As independents.

Come visit San Francisco’s favorite Ivy Leaguers, if you want. Sunday Sunday Sunday! May 11th.
Let’s start Mother’s Day at a bar:
[..] meet our independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader, his VP running mate local badass Matt Gonzalez, and the legendary Jello Biafra AT OUR HOME BAR this Sunday morning. Max’s 540 Club, 540 Clement Street (between 6th and 7th ave) Sunday, May 11, 11am (we will be opening at 9am)
And let’s finish in the Mission District:
Sunday May 11th 7pm
Ralph Nader & Matt Gonzalez Rally
Roxie Theater
3117 16th Street San Francisco, CA 94103
$10 contribution/ $5 student/low-income (no one turned away)
More Info Call -(510) 914-8355 or events@votenader.org
See you there!
[This item altered to reflect the reality that the Green Party hasn’t yet decided on their ticket. Ralph is managing to win as a Green in a few regional votes this year regardless.]

News comes today that the City and County of San Francisco is denying the claim made Amritpal and Kulbir Dhaliwal regarding the Christmas Day tiger attack last year upon Carlos Souza, Jr.

Why? You’ll just have to read the 84-page lease agreement between San Francisco and the San Francisco Zoo to find out.
Dennis Herrera is a crackerjack attorney, so he and his team aren’t going to make things easy for those trying to make money off of this tragedy. It’s not like San Francisco has a lot of extra sourdough to send down to the counties of Santa Clara and Los Angeles.
Let’s all hope that the new and improved big cat grottos will be less vulnerable to any kind of harassment, even the “boys will be boys” fatal type of harassment.

The bandwagon opposing aerial spraying for light brown apple moth eradication is gaining momentum.
Last night, San Francisco Supervisors Carmen Chu, Gerardo Sandoval, and Ross Mirkarimi, along with scientists, physicians and organic farmers, all addressed a standing-room-only crowd of hundreds at the Hall of Flowers in Strybing Arboretum.
Senator Carole Migden praises the efforts of the assembled experts.
In related news, the “twist-tie” approach is under new scrutiny in San Mateo County.
On it goes. Per the Chronicle:
On Saturday, Stop the Spray Marin is holding a march and rally from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the southwest end of the Corte Madera Town Center. More information about the events is at www.sfspraytownhall.org and www.stopthespraymarin.org.
It’s hard to imagine light aircraft buzzing the city with spray canisters firing after seeing all this agitation, but who knows…
