Impression: Moonrise – Sky Blue Pink Above San Francisco

That’s what some people call the vivid color of these clouds – “sky blue pink.”

As seen above Golden Gate Park a few days ago. The sun is off to the right, setting.

It seems the phrase “sky blue pink” is out of style these days. Don’t know why. Too bad.

Red, orange and pink clouds occur almost entirely at sunrise/sunset and are the result of the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere. The clouds are not that color; they are reflecting the long (and unscattered) rays of sunlight which are predominant at those hours.”
