It looks like the California Department of Transportation is giving the green light to the San Diego Minutemen group to continue participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program. So, get used to seeing signs like this down Mexico / Fun Diego way. Per KGO-TV:
“The new regulations will allow all groups, even controversial ones, to clean up the trash as long as their cause isn’t criminal or violent in nature.”
This one is similar to signs with the names of other potentially controversial groups, such as the Democratic Party, the National Orgainzation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (N.O.R.M.L.) your gays and lesbians, and the LUV Boutique chain of adult-entertainment stores.
And, of course, the Klan. Leave us never forget the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK):
This sign used to be on seen by those on the Rosa Parks Highway in Missouri.
Would the Klan be elgible for a sign in California under CalTrans’ rules? That’s unclear.
