The Loudest Motorcycle in San Francisco is a Newish Harley-Davidson

They say that, “Straight Pipes Save Lives.”

But I don’t think so. I think what they do is needlessly set off car alarms and shake the ribcages of nearby peds, you know, the way this modified, mufflerless,┬ámotosickle does.

It also appears to be parked on the ADA-accessible entrance to some place.

So is there any way to get a motorcycle ticketed for being too loud?

  4. sfcitizen says:

Good question, I don’t know. You can’t really document the noise easlily but I think a cop looking at a bike could see the issue.

Assuming the cop him/herself doesn’t have an illegal exhaust. Oakland and Berkeley police modify their bikes to make them louder. It’s illegal under vehicle code section 27150 but they don’t care. I remember hearing about 12 Harleys coming up the street at a protest in berkeley. They sounded like a freight train…
