But I don’t think so. I think what they do is needlessly set off car alarms and shake the ribcages of nearby peds, you know, the way this modified, mufflerless, motosickle does.

So is there any way to get a motorcycle ticketed for being too loud?
Good question, I don’t know. You can’t really document the noise easlily but I think a cop looking at a bike could see the issue.

Assuming the cop him/herself doesn’t have an illegal exhaust. Oakland and Berkeley police modify their bikes to make them louder. It’s illegal under vehicle code section 27150 but they don’t care. I remember hearing about 12 Harleys coming up the street at a protest in berkeley. They sounded like a freight train…
