Alioto vs Alioto! Aunt Angela and Niece Michela at Odds Over District 2 Supervisor Endorsement

Well, here’s the news. Former San Francisco Board of Supervisors President Angela Alioto has just endorsed Janet Reilly for District 2. See?

Now, the news from just four days ago was that Angela’s  niece, current District 2 Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier, had endorsed candidate Mark Farrell.

So, I’d say that aunt and niece are at odds over this particular issue. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that…)

Today’s news means Janet Reilly now has more endorsements than Bill Clinton’s passport, in all probability…

“Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier Endorses Mark Farrell for Supervisor

(San Francisco) –District 2 Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier today announced her endorsement of attorney, businessman and father, Mark Farrell to succeed her as District 2 Supervisor.

“District 2 deserves an independent Supervisor with the experience and ability to represent our neighborhoods at City Hall.  The Board of Supervisors needs someone with common sense values who will stand up to the special interests and lead with honor and integrity” said Supervisor Alioto-Pier.

Supervisor Alioto-Pier is supporting Farrell because she believes he is in the best person to continue her work at City Hall.  Supervisor Alioto-Pier has focused on creating jobs, protecting neighborhood character and defending public safety from dangerous budget cuts.

Supervisor Alioto-Pier’s endorsement builds on Farrell’s impressive in-district support.  Farrell has led all of his opponents in fundraising with over 750 individual donors – half of whom are within San Francisco and District 2.

Mark Farrell, like Supervisor Alioto-Pier, is a native-born San Franciscan.  Both the Supervisor and Farrell were born and raised in the neighborhoods of District 2 and continue to raise their children here as well.

As an attorney and partner in a small business venture capital firm focusing on the hospitality industry – an important part of the city’s economy- Farrell’s financial management and budgeting experience will be important to help solve the city’s structural budget deficit.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Supervisor Alioto-Pier,” said Farrell. “I am committed to continue the good work she has begun and will work to restore common sense, fiscal discipline and a neighborhood voice to City Hall.”
