Stow Lake Boathouse Community Meeting: Today, Monday, Nov. 8th at 1:00 PM at the Hall of Flowers

Get up-to-speed here for the latest developments and here for the agenda for the Next Big Meeting regarding the Stow Lake Boathouse in Golden Gate Park. It’s a getting-to-know-you event so you can learn about Ortega Family Enterprises, the new operator and how they’re fixing to give the SLBH some TLC

Second Meeting:
Date: Monday November 8, 2010
Time: 1PM
Location: Hall of Flowers (County Fair Building)

Now, I call it the big meeting because it will almost def. wind up having more attendees than the first one on November 3rd. There was just a handful of Real People who showed to hear from Ortegas père et fils. (And I’ll add that the meeting today seems to have caught the attention of the Save Stow Lake crowd.)

Here’s Armand Ortega, who talked about how Culture should lead Commerce…

…and here’s Shane Ortega, who talked about the courses he took while earning an MBA bidness degree at Stanfoo:

Don’t count on them to return today but somebody from OFE will be on hand I’m sure.

And here’s something new, it’s the proposed floor-plan of the cafe:

And here’s the view that you’d get the way things are today when the “Historic Boat Maintenance Shop Door” (shown at #7 in the floor-plan) is open:

I am dying, DYING, to hear your comments on the Nov 8th meeting. Always enjoy what you do.

Well thanks but I missed that one, it was in the afternoon on a Monday. Not sure what the turnout was like, probably not that much. Nobody reported the meeting AFAIK.

You can check out the Save Stow Lake website / monster webpage – they have a new chart. I read along until I found a misleading error. Didn’t take long. They took the word “Family” from the name of the winning side and put it on the losing side – that’s the first row. I’m sure there are other errors as well. Oh well.

Nov. 8th meeting = approx. 50 people… standing room only. No arrests but a lot of shouting. Ortega Enterprises, LLC who applied for the boathouse concession under the name “Cloudless Skies” were on hand with plenty of their p.r. people. Nick Kinsey of RP handled the meeting very poorly… he started the meeting by saying that an indoor cafe at the boathouse is needed because of the 8 days out of 9 that the weather is cold and rainy. The entire room (except the Ortegas) laughed at Nick’s obvious lack of understanding of the park he is supposed to know so well. Lots of egg on Nick’s face… but if you are rude to people and arrogant you get what you deserve. Ortegas p.r. people were also rude and dismissive to the elderly attendees and others. When people asked questions, Frank Klein kept saying, that’s information that’s already been released… as if their questions weren’t worth answering. Not a good way to win over any group. It’s all on audio tape, just to keep RP honest, which is a chore.

But isn’t deal this mostly done with though? I mean, what color is the sky in your world?

And I think it’s Ortega _Family_ Enterprises. At least that’s what it said on all my checks.
