I drove past it at 3:30: it was operating at maximum capacity!
Yeah, I think they were having their ceremony / demonstration regarding the Tony Hawk Foundation at that time. He donated $10k for the SoMA proposal…
No it probably didn’t have anything to do with the tony hawk donation. I skate there regularly, I even see myself in this picture. the spot gets a lot of attention from lots of skaters and any given friday there can be more than 50 people skating.
i think it’s great and too bad if the millionaire landowners don’t like it, it’s part of the culture here in the city
only feedback is i was with my kid and could not get any space to do mellow boarding on a Sat afternoon so the cool dudes, whom we all admire for sure, need to give us laymen just a little bit of space, ya know? thanks y’all! as i want my kid to learn too and this space is supposed to be for everyone
