I’m thinking it has something to do with the high cost of doing bidness in town.

So, unless you’ve already been partying with the current Mayor’s political faction or unless you’re already running a high-status internationally-famous operation (like Twitter or Facebook or whathaveyou), you’ll find doing business in San Francisco is a PITA.

Try it, you’ll see.

Anyway, no $5FLs for you, San Francisco.

It isn’t just the minimum wage, it is also the high extra payroll taxes that SF charges. Twitter was going to leave, too, but the city exempted them from the payroll taxes in order to get them to stay. San Francisco is doing everything in its power to drive business out of the city. The latest is to charge for parking meters on Sundays which is really just a perk to the meter maid union giving them even more overtime.

  5. Driving up wages 20% means some people may make more money, others will lose their jobs and many won’t eat out as often.
