I don’t know, if I were all set on the idea that American oil production peaked in 1970, I’d be getting a little worried about now.

Yep, fracking. And $100 a barrel oil.
The point is that peak oil is irrelevant, a worthless metric.
Fracking opened new but very limited resources. That upturn will soon fizzle. Reports of the death of peak oil are greatly exaggerated. The US peak was in 1970 – that’s never going to change.
