I have been mystified the last few days by what is going on in the Civiv Center--I am a lomng time SF resident and live a few blocks from City Hall. Not in four decades have I seen such a monstrous secretive armed camp build up right on my doorstep--in a supposedly public place. When they close off several blocks for a community event like the Cinco de Mayo, St Patrick's, the Gay Parade, and the like--I don't mimnd that. But when I see a for profit corporation take over the streets and sidewalks all over the Civic Center (and practically block access to the SFPL) I am beginning to feel the same kind of resentment an inhabitant of Bagdad or Kabul might feel towards the take-over by alien military forces of their civic spaces. The corporations should stick to venues like Moscone Center--not take ove Civic Center and convert it into a vast armed camp with hundr5eds of uniformed guards and silly people with tags hanging around theor necks. Please don't doe this again. It makes me mad--NO, scrap that I AM PISSED OFF.
