    All you know is not enough. City Hall, with Supervisor Mirkarimi taking the lead, allowed UC to privatize that property after 150 years of being zoned for “public use.” UC and its chosen developers will now develop 450 new housing units on what used to be a university campus providing college courses for working people. The only thing that’s delayed the ripoff is the Great Recession, which made it harder to get development loans.

    The project will bring in 1,000 new residents to an area that’s already strangling on all the traffic on Octavia Blvd., while limiting the number of parking spaces for the new units. The project will also destroy a state and national landmark.
