Poorly-Designed Octavia “Boulevard” Proves Too Much for Mercedes-Driving Mom – Plows into NIMBY Green

To the right of this accident scene is Octavia Boulevard.

And to the left, a block away, is Octavia Street.

And in the middle, you’ll see NIMBY Green with a newish Mercedes Benz CLS sitting on top.

You see, Octavia used to be a regular old street until Redevelopment (a bad idea from the 20th century) and the failed Octavia “Boulevard” experiment (a bad idea from the 21st century) came along.

Anyway. this is what results when “activists” are valued more than traffic engineers

I’ts no “experiment,” Jim. It’s here to stay, gridlocking Hayes Valley forever. And it’s going to get a lot worse with the Market/Octavia Plan (10,000 new residents, 40-story residential highrises at Market/Van Ness) and the UC housing development a block away (1,000 new residents). Both of these projects limit the amount of parking developers can provide for all those new residents, which is why the Bicycle Coalition approves of this “smart growth.” Let them ride bikes!

I suspect she fell 6′ short of her goal of aiming for the children playing in the play area just past her front bumper.
She must have been determined in order to get up the speed to crash through the steel bollards, fly over the concrete barrier planting bed, and take out the tree.
Or maybe she just a really lousy driver who shouldn’t be allowed back on our roads. Text-on! American moms!
