There are a Lot More SFPD Cops on the Beat in the Mid-Market Area These Days, It Seems – May 2013

Just saying, Broseph.

Seen a mess of the them just ambling about Market lately especially the south of the slots, two by two.

Just my observation.

Good to see this. Foot patrols are a good way of keeping a lid on the scummy but not dramatic, quality of life stuff. It does come at the opportunity cost of having cops focused on things like robberies and 911 calls, but for mid market I think the former is more of a problem than the latter.

It’s bad for certain kinds of street business, that’s for sure. THe crew at 7th and Market selling stolen iPhones has thinned out, perhaps they’ve headed further into the tenderloin…

Hey, SF Cit, last time I checked, the illegal stolen iPhone trade at 7th/Market wasn’t good for anyone but a few crooks. Esp. not the hard working people who got their iPhones robbed/swiped. And for the record, I’ve seen the foot patrol guys truckin’ to some 911 calls – they just don’t move as far, as fast, as the cops in cars. But they def. look fitted… Maybe that’s a good thing, some SF cops who are actually in shape enough to walk around all day.
