And it calls Van Ness “El Camino Real”?!?!?? That is FAR more disturbing, at least to me.

  2. Einstein says:

As part of an historic preservation plan, routes and thoroughfares that trace the original El Camino Real have been renamed or at the very least pointed out on maps. The plan has been in place for a few years now.

Sometimes tourists ask me how to get to El Camino Real – sort of funny.

And sometimes Google Maps only shows a street name as Bike Route 49, stuff like that.

Anyway, it’s cool to see where ECR used to be. Makes sense it would align with Ven Ness, with the hills and all…

  4. SlideSF says:

Goof thinking there, Einstein. Do you call Cesar Chavez “Army Street” as well? That’s pretty historically accurate…

  5. tk says:

Ah, I get it. I still catch myself calling Grant “Calle de la Fundacion” sometimes.
