People come from all over the Bay Area and from all over the world to see Golden Gate Park, right?
So, how long will it take the SFMTA to educate all the drivers in the world about how to park on JFK in the eastern part of GGP?
Never, that’s how long.
To wit, check out this recent scene:

The camera tripod takes up half of the dedicated westbound bike lane and the driver of the lovely stretch Hummer limousine takes up the other. And I believe that’s a horrible Pontiac (ask your folks, kids – it was like a sporty Chevrolet) G6 (yes, GM’s marketers intentionally made it sound like a private jet, and yes, “you get a car and you get a car” on Oprah) parked in the “door zone” making part of the bike lane the door zone.
What’s this, is it a “teachable moment” for the citizens of the world? I suppose. But where did you learn _your_ lessons from, SFMTA? From Europe?
From Europe exclusively?
Why is that?
Anyway, the difference betwixt how the SFMTA wants people to behave and how people actually behave is one, just one, reason why the SFMTA’s JFK Jr bike lanes are fucking horrible.
