Life and Death on Hippie Hill: Great Blue Heron vs. Botta’s Pocket Gopher

Hey look at this silly goose on Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park:

So you notice the new gopher holes and you figure there might be some action so you pass the assembled hippies talking about philosophy or drugs or whatever.

I’ll spare you the shot of this boid waiting above the gopher to give you the lunge:
