Confused Honda Driver Gets Two Tickets for Just One Improper Turn at Confusing Fell and Masonic

Friday, December 30th, 2016

So you had the double flash from the enforcement camera mounted up high at the west end of this intersection, and that alerted the SFPD officer who then pulled the driver over.

I assume that you wouldn’t  end up having to pay both tickets.

You didn’t used to have to wait to turn left from Fell onto southbound Masonic, but now you do. And the new way they have the sequence timed leads to problems…

Frank Chu and His Signs, December 2016

Thursday, December 29th, 2016

Frank ran into some trouble back in the 1980’s but I’ve never had any issues with him, after hundreds of encounters at area events over the decades.

If I had to guess, SHEPARD is for astronaut Alan Shepard and AIRCRAFT CARRIERS is a reference to the Russian-built Admiral Kuznetsov / Varyag / Liaoning and the like. I mean they’re sort of like aircraft carriers:

Expensify is paying the bills these days:

This guy from Quiznos sandwiches cut an ad deal with Frank a long time ago, and that put then-unknown Quiznos on the map, or so the story goes.

Leaving you with this – here he is from a decade back at the final Castro Halloween, when he encountered some dude dressed as Frank Chu. (And later that night, a kid from the projects shot nine people on Market near Noe and that was the end of Halloween in the Castro.)

This has been Frank Chu and His Signs, December 2016.

Seattle’s HOMEGROWN Sandwich Chain OPENING SOON at Troubled 222 Battery

Thursday, December 29th, 2016

That was the windup, now here’s the pitch.

They look almost ready to open at this star-crossed building what’s been shut down for years and years, IIRC.

Read all about it at Eater SF

(And the new bay area locations are not to be confused with HOMEGROWN OAKLAND?)

Oh, the Seattle location has surprisingly low Yelp rating, IMO.

Anyway, this was the scene yesterday with the future “Sandwich Partners” getting training inside:

“LOVESAC Opening March 2017?” – Heh, You Said “Sack”

Thursday, December 29th, 2016

And then you head to the website and it’s all, “As a LoveSac Member…”

As seen on Market somewhere:

And I’m like, “Heh, you said ‘member.'”

Good times.

Oh, as seen on TV.

Bonus: Happy Fun Slander* via Yelp:

This store and brand is a huuuuge waste of money. The mark-up is ridiculous. It may cost them 50-75 TOPS to make these BEAN BAGS that are made with “Memory Foam” but they sell them for upwards to a thousand bucks. Not to mention the Manager is extremely obnoxious and the associates are purranas. They tell you the couches have a lifetime warranty when in fact each little piece to the couch has about a 2 year warranty and the only thing that’s lifetime is the wood frame… Umm.. that’ll do me a lot of good. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.

*Potentially, you never know. And unless you’re super sure about all the deets, you should always say defamation, as that’s the umbrella term for libel and slander, mas or menos.

Seems Reno is Ahead of Frisco, Transit-wise

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

But IDK. I’m pretty sure that Reno, NV doesn’t have dozens of public employees whose sole job is to say how great the local transit system is, the way our local SFMTA SFCTA is set up.

Anyway, there’s this:

And this, which looks like a BRT system:

I guess what I’m saying is that it appears that Reno’s transit system is run for Reno, as opposed to the employees of its transit system…
