Disrupt MUNI: LUXE-Style “ON-Demand” Valet Parker and UBER Driver Team Up to Block a #5 Fulton on Market – HONK, HONK

Just a little slice of life here on Market outbound near Monty.

The driver on the bus goes honk honk honk/ honk honk honk / honk honk honk at this scooter-folding LUXE driver, who is fixing to stow away the black Chevy Volt for a customer:

The problem is that it’s hard to park or even stop legally in Frisco. So that fuels demand for “on-demand” parking I s’pose, but that also makes it very difficult for the employees to work legally.

Anyway, the MUNI operator was pissed as Luxe Dude took his time to fold his Razor scooter and, eventually, drive away…

[Oh look at me riding the MUNI. Of course I almost certainly have more hours, years, decades, miles getting about Frisco on foot, by bike, and by car than you, Gentle Reader, and the officers/employees of, IDK let’s name them, SFWALK, SFBIKE, SFVISIONZERO and the boards / management at the SFMTA / SFCTA, so that means we’ve excluded some of the members of the 10K membership SFBC – some of those ppl have more bike miles than I – and we also gotta exclude some longtime MUNI operators for driving miles in Frisco. OTOH, many many ppl about town have more time sitting on MUNI BART than I. In fact, this was my first time to successfully use a Clipper Card, after two prior failed attempts. (The first time was due to the five(!?) days it takes to load a card and the second time, well, I guess the Clipper system was down that day for that bus – I’ve never seen that before. And I had a few TransLink cards, back from when they were handing them out like candy, but any I had got an acetone bath, you know, to see what was inside.) And actually, that’s my bike on the front of the bus, with a flat tire. I always try to make sure I don’t delay the bus more than a few seconds whenever I load up a bike, because Transit* First, right? Anyway, it just strikes me as funny that your bidness model entails making money off of blocking traffic on Market. Which is not to say I’ve never dropped ppl off in the Financh or SoMA or wherever, it’s just that I do it better than average. That means that I take pains to not block MUNI buses.]

*The real definition of this word, not the made up BS / BoS version what’s burned into our charter, right?
