OUCH: The City of Portland Rips on Frisco’s 8.5% Sales Tax Rate in an SFMTA Bus Stop Ad

See?

I’ll freely concede that The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland, but Our Friends Up North should realize that anything anybody in Frisco buys in OR is subject to use tax just as soon as its taken back to the 415. The rate is 8.5%, just saying.

Anyway, Portland is biting us, yet again.

Do you know anybody paying the use tax? Tip: if purchasing via Amazon, look for a better deal from an Amazon partner (and no shipping charge) and if not based in CA, you’ll probably not pay a sales tax. Let’s see–live in Wash. and not pay state income tax and drive across to Portland for no sales tax (gas costs?)
Portlanders themselves don’t really want SF’ers to actually move up there. Housing costs have been soaring due to Calis invading.

Well, lots of ppl pay use taxes, as when buying a car, and I believe most online retailers like Amazon collect it for the state of CA, but I hear your point, I get it.

Yes, I’ve heard of transplanted Californians getting a cold welcome up north.

anyway, IDK if the Portland Travel ppl have considered the tax issue for ppl in SF

    Thx for posting.
