“Stolen Ford Go-BIKE #12282 – $100 (alamo square / nopa)
Hello!
Ford makes these crappy Go bikes that are worth nothing but they are going to charge me 1200$ if I cannot return it. Someone stole it from the station I was at at the bottom of McAllister @ Laguna intersection.
I am offering a 100$ reward if found this week! Thanks!
The bike code on the side is #12282″

I wonder what it costs to make a GoBike. It’s certainly not worth $1200, that’s for sure. In fact, a sub-$100 ride from WalMart, a so-called Bike Shaped Object, is a better bike, IMO. Like, it would have actual tried and true gears, like 21 or more for ease of going uphill. And it would therefore have superior gearing range. And it would be lighter. And you wouldn’t have to pay to use it. And you wouldn’t have to worry having to return it someplace, gee the clock is ticking.*

And you wouldn’t have to worry about getting it stolen and being on the hook for $1200.

Oh well.

*Your WalMart tires will wear out quicker – the puncture-resistant Schwalbes on Ford’s GoBikes are superior to anything you’d get from Wally. (And they could be the #1 reason why ppl steal FordGoBikes.)

Here’s Why People in San Francisco Think UBER and Lyft Drivers are Horrible – An Ill-Conceived Left Turn, with Concomitant Honking

Monday, November 20th, 2017

Here you go, on Fell, at Masonic, outbound of course, we see a white Prius in the middle of five lanes:

But there’s just one lane you can be in to turn left to go south on Masonic – that’s the leftmost lane, occupied by a black Honda Civic at this time. But no matter, despite the fact that the light forĀ  Fell has been green for a good 20 seconds or so, the white Prius is stopped and attempting to turn left from the middle lane, which is exactly two lanes away from where you’d want to be.

Honking ensued.

But look, the Prius driver has pulled into the neighboring lane and then straightened out. Then it stopped again. One lane down, one lane to go:

At this point, the unique ped / bike only green has gone red so this allows traffic in the left lane to turn left onto Masonic. And look who’s making an illegal left along with the Civic – it’s our friend the errant Prius:

After hearing all the honking and seeing this display of chutzpah, a pedestrian can only turn away with a chuckle:

Anyway, success of a sort – left turn completed.

And here’s the kicker – was it an UBER or a Lyft (or maybe even one of those UBER Lyfts)?

Well, looks like a Lyft.

Yes, you can drive this way in SF, all you San Mateo County-based TNC drivers. However, you will accumulate more than your fair share of moving and parking violations from the non-traffic-oriented SFPD and/or the money-hungry SFMTA MUNI DPT.

And that’s going to eat into your earnings as a Lyft driver.

And of course the legal way to do this would have been to spend a couple minutes goring forward and then making three right turns.

Verdict:

GUILTY

GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!

END OF LINE.

Park and Wreck: RPD Totals Audi with Its Laissez Faire Approach to Tree Maintenance – Another Fall on Fell

Monday, November 20th, 2017

IDK man, RPD’s tree branches can fall on your noggin at pretty much any time.

Oh well.

As seen on Fell near Shrader:

And IDK how much small, 15 year old Audi’s are worth but it can’t be that much. So that’s why I say totaled.

RPD’s Panhandle trees will kill somebody one of these days, and our RPD is cool with that it seems.

Oh well.
