Ford Motor Company of Dearborn, MI Defines “Living Wages” in SF, CA as Being Just 15% Above the Minimum – $16.13 Per Hour??

Wednesday, August 16th, 2017

And on top of that, Ford Motor Company (NYSEFS&P 100 ComponentS&P 500 Component) is “proud” to pay just $16.13 per hour.

See?

And I’ll do the math for you, Gentle Reader, and I’ll show my “work,” heh:

Capturesdddsdddd

I think Ford could afFORD to pay about $10 an hour more to each one of its near minimum wage GoBike bike rental workers, especially in high-rent cities such as San Francisco (especially considering all the advertising they’re getting, especially considering how much they jacked up prices from the little-used, low-profile, tax and fee-payer-funded Bay Area Bike Share.)

Alternatively, FoMoCo could stop repeatedly claiming that it’s paying “living wages,” right?

What’s that, FORD is just like Citi in New York, a mere sponsor? Well, not really, as FORD tracks you, the GoBike user, more than Citibank does.  I mean, does Citi track how fast you drive your car the day after you install an app to use a bikeshare rental bike in NYC? IDTS. Like, why would it care? But does FORD?

look closer.

Ah, mem’ries:

The Real Reason Behind Ford’s Move Into Bike-Sharing – Why would an auto giant want to start an urban bike-sharing business? Here’s a hint: It’s not about the bikes.

“Listen, here’s the deal. The opportunity is not bikes. That’s not why Ford’s in it. The opportunity is data, and the data is super valuable because it tells us these invisible paths that people are taking in this complex city in terms of how they want to get around.”

Oh what’s that, there’s no GPS on the bikes?

But what about your phone, is there GPS and whatnot on that?

There sure is. So that’s how they track your:

“Driving Characteristics, such as speed, use of accelerator, brakes, steering, seat belts, and other similar information about how the vehicle is used.”

And that’s not all…

QUESTION: What are “Living Wages” in Frisco / Alameda County in 2017? Ford Motor Co of Michigan Thinks It’s $16.13/Hr.

Wednesday, July 12th, 2017

Hey, QUESTION: Does Michigan-based FoMoCo think that $16.13 per hour really is a “living wage” in our Bay Area in places like Frisco, E-Ville, Oaktown, Berzerkeley, etc? Here’s why I ask:

  1. Fully 90 percent of operations jobs are full time positions, paying at or above living wages…”; and consider that
  2. These gigs pay $16.13 per hour, even in San Francisco, right?

So does that square?

IDK.

IDTS.

KTHXBYE.

Abraham Lincoln Brigade (16) Takes Market – Twice as Good as the Van Buren Boys (8) – Annual Nerd Conference Continues

There were warning signs:

But I wasn’t prepared. I wasn’t prepared for this gang of blackshirts headed down Market:

I was going to flash “16” to them to show I was down, but I didn’t know how.

(Guess all it takes to form an army in Frisco is free box lunch and giveaway T-shirts. And flags. Lots o’ flags…)

Good Idea: The Panhandle Bike Path Should Be Widened

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

It used to have four foot wide lanes.

Then it got six foot lanes, but now it’s lots busier these days, with all manner of transport upon it:

And the SFPD and Rec & Park drive upon this path with Crown Victorias all the time too, right?

So what’s wrong with eight foot lanes, I ask you.

(Oh, no other “improvements” are required, no beautification efforts are required, or desired. Just work on the basics, SFGov.)

It Looks Like Somebody Wants a Wider Golden Gate Park Panhandle Bike Path – Or, is Planning for One, Anyway

Wednesday, May 6th, 2015

I’ll tell you, in my day the Panhandle Bike Path was a mere eight foot wide. And then it went to twelve foot, the way it is now.

But how about 16 feet – what the heck would be wrong with that? JMO.

Anyway, they just got finished repaving the southwest corner of Fell and Masonic, so the bike path got widened to 14 feet, if only for a short section:

I’ll get my 16 foot bike path, someday. (Prolly with a laundry list of expensive aesthetic “improvements” that I won’t notice, but anyway, someday…
