As Rain Man used to say, “I know this car.”
I know it because I saw it illegally parked in front of a liquor store at the corner of Union and Columbus on a Friday or Saturday night all the way back in the 1990′s.
1.5 decades later, I see this rig again. How about that?
And of course, it has an expensive CHP 11-99 Foundation license plate holder, to tell peace officers not to give this particular car a ticket, no matter how cray-cray the driver drives/parks.

Ferraris look a lot better these days, is all I can say.
Anyway, welcome to the new millennium, NRTH BCH.

Don’t miss the giant Buddha* – he’s in the mix as well:

Merry Christmas!
* Now, you think, and I’m srsly you guys, you think maybe at some point Gumps could make a replica of the Buddha and then send the original back to Northern China whence it came? Just asking, Gump-bro. I know you have custody of it currently, from Agents of Fortune, though Accident of History, but is that the way it will always be?
“A Qing Dynasty gilded wood Buddha, carved for a summer palace in Northern China, is located in the store. It was carved in the Northern Manchurian Province of Jehol, the summer capital of the Ch’ing Emperors in the early 19th Century. The piece, the largest of its kind outside a museum, is the only item in the store that is not for sale.”
China, China, calling out to history
Is that the way it will always be?

You kids are too young to remember the 1980′s, but this is exactly what it looked like.
Exactly…
Note TSV (triangular side vent) windows and tiny, tiny (by today’s standards) stock wheels:

Well here it is, way out in the Middle Richmond District- it’s a Patrick Nagel print from Yelp-rated Vladimir’s Beauty Salon, as seen at 6340 Geary Boulevard entre les avenues 27 et 28.
Won’t you agree that “Patrick Nagel’s artwork is ‘so 80′s’“?

Here’s a little more 311 about the background of this Beauty Shop Nagel:
“Nagel’s figures generally have black hair, bright white skin, full-lipped mouths, and the distinctive Nagel eyes, which are often squared off in the later works. Because of the intense stylization and reduction of facial features into clean lines, generally the figures resemble each other.”
“While Nagel’s work is mostly represented by aloof, if also seductive women, they are rarely, if ever, presented in a submissive relationship with men.”
“Nagel’s artwork strongly influenced the illustration and clip art of the late 1980s and illustrations of women strongly resembling those seen in Nagel’s art were widely used in hair and nail salons and other beauty-oriented businesses.”
