The pricey Raptor program ($138 million each) had a few teething problems last year. One of which was a computer failure affecting multiple aircraft brought about by merely flying over the International Date Line.
At the international date line, whoops, all systems dumped and when I say all systems, I mean all systems, their navigation, part of their communications, their fuel systems. They were—they could have been in real trouble.

2008’s Golden Gate Renaissance Faire was the place to be this past weekend in San Francisco. These shots from the jousting in 2007 show we were a little luckier with the weather last year, but there was a good turnout this go around as well.

Except for the modern chain link fence and the ATM machine by the entrance, this is a pretty credible attempt to show what life was like back in the day.

You see, it should look more like this, from 2007. This year’s fireworks got above the fog, but only once in a while. It’s almost as if the Bay Area should celebrate Anti-Fourth of July instead.
