Yesterday’s Haight Ashbury Street Fair in San Francisco came with sunny skies and lots of attendees.
The alcohol ban of recent years has changed the character of this event somewhat. These days, the boozy Union Street Festival might have an edge in the number of inebriated. No matter, a good time was had by all in the Haight.
So, dig the colors of David Yu and look at a bunch of photos from SFWeekly.
A mass of humanity:

Could this man with marijuana garland be famous artist Harry Shearer trying out a new character?

Hookahs! Get your hookahs! Hookahs.com was in the house:

A dancing baby grooving on Haight Street:

Cindy Sheehan had more than a few acolytes gathering signatures for Cindy’s windmill-tilting House campaign against Nancy Pelosi:

See you next year!

This didn’t end well for the gopher.
The parent bird, the tallest one, just hunted and killed a pocket gopher to bring back to the nest high above Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. The middle chick (fledgling now?) scooped up the undigested rodent to the chagrin of its siblings.
You can see the outline of the gopher slowly sliding down the neck of the aptly named Great Blue Heron.

This here monkey thing looks like a stuffed animal or a backpack, but basically it’s a disguised harness avec leash.
The youngest blogger in the world seems to like his. He doesn’t feel he’s lost his “dignity” or is being “treated like a dog”
You see, somebody who cares about you wants you to get out of the house, but not stray too far.

Just so you know….

That’s right, Conan the Destroyer has a posse and they’re all rolling on dubs. Check out these 22-inch monsters being used in an official gubernatorial motorcade:

And check out those balancing weights - do you see how much it takes to keep these massive rims rolling true? These wheels are about twice as large as what Vanilla Ice’s Five point-oh Ford Mustang had way back in the 1990’s.
There’s no good reason to have wheels this large on your vehicle. Some think them dangerous. Others don’t like the way they ride. Of course, sometimes you might be like Senator Don Perata and end up with a set of duece dueces because they come with the car, but not usually.
If you want to show off your wheels, why not keep them a little smaller and then load up on some bling bling? Diamond and ruby studded wheels from Asanti only cost $2,000,000 per set - will this be the next trend in fashionable wheels?
Arnold Schwarzenegger might be your role model, but don’t try to copy him with his huge wheels.
Asta la vista, baby.
