Here you go, here’s an expensive crib set what includes a crib with a drop side (which means it slides up and down) which you can’t sell in the United States anymore.
But can you sell it used on Craigslist? No. Hell no.
Check it, straight from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Loophole alert: Are you allowed to sell this crib not as a crib but as a convertible child’s bed?
Possibly.
Loophole alert: Are you allowed to throw away the drop side and sell the crib as a daybed, thusly?
“Beautiful, high quality solid wood Morigeau-Lepine crib converted to toddler day bed. Originally purchased for 850.00. Attached picture is of original drop-side crib which is now banned in the U.S. Drop side piece is not included in this sale to avoid possible danger.”
I don’t know. Maybe.
But what I do know is that you can’t sell drop side cribs no mo, even on Craigslist.
And yet people try to do that on Craigslist each and every day.
Just saying, ma’am.
What should you buy instead? How about a Sniglar* from IKEA? It costs just $69 (and it certainly looks like it costs just $69.)
And it will not impress any rich ladies in Russian Hill or anywhere else.
But, the Sniglar, she is legal, and that’s the thing.
Sorry for the hassle. Thank you, drive through.
“Morigeau Lepine (Canadian) WOODEN CRIB SET: $3250 VALUE — selling for $1000
Gorgeous Morigeau Lepine furniture in excellent condition. 2800 series collection. Used by one child only in smoke-free house. Can purchase individual pieces or all. Morigeau Lepine furniture is quality, Canadian crafted. Smooth to the touch, durable hardwood construction. It will stand the test of time and you will likely be able to pass down to others. Crib – $550. Converts to a full-sized bed when child grows older! (Crib mattress can be added for additional $50)
Dresser – $300

$1,000 for all three”
*Wasn’t that Gollum’s name back when he was a Hobbit? Something like that.

You know, before somebody, some ped gets clobbered?

It will happen like this – a roadie traveling west, the downhill direction, will be “making time” or “flying” at 20-something MPH and s/he will clobber a pedestrian, perhaps Chris Bucchere-style.
So, I think wider would be better.
I mean, you wouldn’t want to narrow the thing, would you?

This took a while so I’m not sure these photos show the same crawfish. The baby would keep dropping it and the mother would keep diving to retrieve.

I’ll tell you, I don’t know why people call the Lucky on Fulton the Ghetto Lucky, but lots of people do.*
Anywho, this was the scene out front the other day – the fledgling on the upper right was getting fed by the parent on the lower left:

These kinds of boids seem to like whatever kind of vegetation the Sav Mart / Albertson’s people put in there. And they’re all over the place now, feeding their hungry kids.
The next step will be how to get inside the Fulton Lucky for some light noshing.
Like this:

Nature is Everywhere.
*Actually, there’s nothing wrong with it. I mean, it’s not Whole Foods or nothing, but maybe that’s a good thing…

The 8th Annual Walk for Life West Coast will start at Civic Center this year.
Will organizers lie about attendance by simply adding 5000 people to the previous year’s estimate as is their custom? We’ll just have to wait and see. Somebody will document the crowd overestimating, but I don’t know if it will be me this year…

All the deets:
“Due to a scheduling conflict, the Walk for Life will be unable to follow its familiar route from Justin Herman Plaza and along San Francisco’s waterfront to Marina Green. Instead, we will be gathering at Civic Center Plaza at 11:00 am for the Info Fair to be followed by the rally at 12:30 pm. At 1:30 we will start walking down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza. There will be no additional events at Justin Herman Plaza.
We are excited about this new opportunity and believe that this new venue will give us the chance to grow our numbers. More information to come so please sign up for our email blasts to keep informed of these important changes.
HOTEL UPDATE: We have sold out of the rooms at the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf Hotel. We were able to negotiate a discounted rate at the Kabuki Hotel in Japantown (very close to the Cathedral) for $139/night. For further options, gohere.
FLYERS: Color flyers are now availble for download. If you would like to receive copies of the flyers, please send us an email with your address and how many you would like. Help spread the word!
Confirmed speakers include: Lori Hoye, Dr. Vansen Wong, Rev. Clenard Childress and Jacquie Stalnaker.
Once again this year EWTN will be broadcasting the event live via satellite on TV andImmaculate Heart Radio will be broadcasting the event live on the radio.”

I’ll tell you, I was shocked when I found out that you could see dolphins while just walking about San Francisco.
Like this, from Lands End, from a while back:

Now I personally didn’t take any new shots this year, but here’s a roundup of the best shots from 2011 so far:
From Fort Winfield Scott, The Presidio – jump jump!
From Ft. Winfield Scott – jumping the other way
From the Golden Gate Bridge – see the shadow?
From the Golden Gate Bridge – bottlenoses
From the Golden Gate Bridge – at 200mm
From a boat – Pacific white-sided
From a boat – northern white whale dolphins
From a boat near the Farallones – Risso’s
Castro Street Fair – tattoo category (Uh, law school called – they want their diploma back)
That was 2011, now here’s yesteryear:
From Fort Funston. (Now, why did we name an entire fort after that Filipino Killing Cracker?) Anyway, here’s the view, sometimes:

Same angle:

As promised, baby dolphins, avec maman:

And here they are swimming south, off to sample the yummy seafood in the waters off San Mateo County:

Swimming past the PG&E Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge:

And, this is cheating somewhat, a military dolphin near AT&T Park:

Keep a lookout for dolphins!

All right, I need to payoff on that headline.
Here are your humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) of San Francisco County, which, of course, includes a whole bunch of ocean (depending on how you look at it.)
A pair of namesake humps. This particular species is not endangered at all – there are tons of them out there.

Horizontal tale = whale, of course. These things are huge, like almost 50 feet long and weighing as much as older DC-9 jetliners:

Here’s Mama and Papa and Junior, just a pod of freelance whales coming and going as they please:

And here’s what happens when a killer whale takes a big bite out of your hump. Chomp chomp:

Bon courage, cetaceans!
