The annual Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (that new name is starting to sound normal to me already) is a coming to the Phone Booth on Saturday, December 31st, 2011.
Where else will you watch an NCAA bowl game in NorCal?

But it looks like their prediction has recently changed, based on this:
“Scout’s 2011 bowl prediction for the Illini has them heading out San Francisco to participate in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. There, Scout predicts, the Illini would take on the UCLA Bruins, who would be 6-7 on the season and also likely minus its coach as well. Two teams with a combined record of 12-13 and without head coaches doesn’t exactly sound like the most appetizing match up, but such is one of the downsides of the current bowl system.”

Irregardless, it’s quite a handsome tower.
(Can you imagine what the anti-PG&E SmartMeter people would think if they had this monster humming just above their noggins? Man, they’d freak out.)
Try to spot it the next time you’re in the Specific Whites neighborhood – it will be the red-and-white tower obstructing your view of the Transamerica Pyramid.

All right, I think I have this one figured out now – San Francisco will host part of the 2010 Kent State Truth Tribunal on August 7th and 8th, 2010. It will occur at 150 Green Street near Sansome (down in Old Media Gulch, near the birthplace of television on the short 200 block of Green - not a bad place for a national broadcast.)

Michael Moore To Broadcast San Francisco Kent State Truth Tribunal. West Coast witnesses and participants are invited to record their stories. First New Media Truth-seeking Initiative Documents 1970 Campus Shooting of Kent State University Students
SAN FRANCISCO, July 27 — On Aug 7-8, 2010 filmmaker Michael Moore will livecast the hearings of the Kent State Truth Tribunal, streaming in real-time the accounts of participants and witnesses to the events surrounding the 1970 Kent State shootings, that left four students dead and nine injured. This livecast is a continuation of the first real-time broadcast of a truth-seeking initiative on Kent State and will be broadcast on www.MichaelMoore.com from 9am-5pm PT. The Tribunal in San Francisco follows a four-day tribunal in Kent, Ohio in early May which marked the 40th anniversary of the campus shootings and assembled over 70 testimonies.
The Kent State Truth Tribunal in May resulted in an outpouring of original participant testimonies, some who shared their stories for the first time since the shootings, forty years ago. Demand for participation was immense at the 40th anniversary yet many witnesses and participants in the events surrounding the shootings were not able to travel to Ohio.

Not that you’d really be able to tell, though. Sutro Tower Inc. has just finished a project that had some of the digital TV broadcast antennas (not “antennae” – that plural term is only used for bugs in our silly English language) gaining a higher altitude.
Not much howver, maybe a seven-percent increase, max. Does that make a big difference? No, not for most people, but at least STI is trying.
Here’s the antenna of KPIX-TV (OMG, that’s the home of Eye on Blogs – big ups, Brittney Gilbert!) a way up top, like 1700 feet above sea level. Now Channel 5 is as high as possible:
