Of course, the richers of Alamo Squar-ah won’t be paying for parking per se, ’cause parking is free. No no, they’ll be paying to prevent other people from parking in “their” hood – that’s the way you gotta look at it. Who knows how many more Parking Control Officers the SFMTA will be able to bill to the RPP program after this.

And who knows when a simple permit sticker will cost drivers more than $200 per year. I’m thinking by the year 2020 it will be that high.

Anyway, enjoy your NIMBY paradise, NIMBYs!

Uh, Did a Couple SFPD Officers Get Jumped by Street Kids on Haight Street Dec. 7? Emergency Surgery? Blurred Vision?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012

Uh, isn’t this sort of big news?

So how come nobody’s talking about it, except for Camden Avery of Uppercasing, The Upper Haight  Blog?

“What happened, according to the SFPD’s Park Station statement, was that at shortly after 11 PM Friday night, two uniformed officers in a cruiser stopped in the street to investigate a man lying down in the road. When they approached, he jumped up and punched one of the officers in the head. According to a security guard at Whole Foods, who witnessed the incident, the assailant called for help from a group of street kids nearby.”

Can You Legally Drink Alcohol While Sitting on the Street in a Parklet? The Surprisingly Complicated Answer is …?

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

I don’t know.

But today Camden Avery of UpperCasing (The Upper Haight Blog) has the deets on this issue.

Presenting the Martin Macks Gastro Pub Parklet, as seen at Haight Street – don’t try stealing this one, you know, the way other people have stolen parklets:

I’m stumped on this issue – I can’t even hazard a guess as to the answer.

But I’ll tell you, I appreciate the way this particular parklet doesn’t block traffic the way the poorly-designed and overly wide Mojo Bicycle Cafe Parklet does block traffic
