A Sad Tale From the “New” Mid-Market: “Assaulted for my Cannondale – $600 (Tenderloin)” – Attack from Six on Sixth

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

Here’s another story from the Central Market area:

SF bay area craigslist > san francisco > for sale / wanted > bicycles – by owner

Yesterday afternoon I was assaulted by 5-6 young men on Sixth and Natoma in the Tenderloin. In broad daylight they surrounded me, tried and failed to grab my wallet, phone and backpack but made off with my 1999 green Cannondale road bike. I’ve attached a picture of a similar bike though mine had traditional silver rims and a black Terry saddle. If you see this bike for sale on craigslist or anywhere around San Francisco/Oakland please call the police immediately. They are aware of this group and, frankly, are fed up with this bullshit.

If you were involved in the violent, cowardly mugging on Monday August 20th you have not gained much. I am in good health and will pursue this until justice is served. These actions bring digrace on your families, community, and the city of San Francisco. My only regret is that I didn’t land another kick when the SIX of you had me pinned in the street.”

Reaction here.

On a related note, here’s how you get your stuff back from the corrupt Twitterloin, if you’re willing to deal with fences.

Oh, and thanks so much for moving in to the hood, Twitter. Let us know if you want anything else from the City and County, you know, like another shuttle bus service to CalTrain, you know, to supplement the two you already have. Oh, and thanks for not paying the 2004 Gavin Newsom tax – that was very clever of you. Oh and thanks for the $2,000,000 Jane Kim slush fund you’re paying for – the non-existent WiFi, you know, part of what you promised, you know, instead of paying your taxes, well, I’m sure it would have worked perfectly.

Well, Here They Are: Brand New Red Light Cameras and Signals at Fell and Masonic

Enjoy.

Will this…

…plus this:

…eliminate this…

…and this?

Well, not actually because this particular car vs. bike from last year happened to be the impatient cyclist’s fault, because he went across against a red, because bike riders don’t have as much time to cross as they used to, owing to the newish dedicated cyclist light Oh well.

Anyway, I would have said that Santa installed all the new hardware, but I was beaten to the punch by Dale Danley / Panhandle Park Stewards, who naively wonder why the Panhandle Bandshell went away despite the fact that the “partners” of PPS are the same people who made the harmless bandshell go away.

(So I don’t know, I’ll consider the Panhandle Park Stewards ranking someplace north of that horribly corrupt Willie Brown S.L.U.G. vehicle for the while. Enjoy your “partnership” with the corrupt RPD, and the NIMBYed-up NoPNA, and the millionaires’ kid’s school as you garden, Deutsches Jungvolk und Bund Deutscher Mädel.)

Anyway, you can look forward to the flashing lights of traffic cams when errant drivers err at Fell and Masonic. (UCSF shuttle van drivers beware, beware!)

A Few Pithy Comments About This SFMTA DPT PCO Meter Maid on a Bicycle in the Fiananch

Friday, January 14th, 2011

The whole ensemble kind of has a cop look, so that’s got to be good when dealing with all those ex-cons out there.

Probably good for the rain, but the blank tickets might get wet tho.

A Cannondale with a suspension fork and disc brakes? Probably be better off without those two features but oh well.

Town and County tires from Continental – I don’t know, they don’t make those like they used to, moved the factory to Indonesia or someplace. Suggest updating Schwalbe Marathon Plus 26. (As the Euros say, “17 000 KM MEME PAS MORT!”)

And Presta valves? Wow, probably causes  the PCOs to scratch their heads when they want to top off their tires. Or maybe they’re told not to touch anything on the bike. (Note gear selection – smallest cog up front to match the smallest cog out back. Nicht gut.)

Anyway, the whole point of using bikes is to sneak up on them trucks to start handing out the tickets more better. And in that sense, this is probably a successful program.

A Serious Car vs. Bike Accident at the Infamous Intersection of Fell and Masonic

Friday, May 14th, 2010

[BIKE NOPA has an update. The Examiner has a report indicating the cyclist has only "minor injuries."  Could it be that the car got it worse than the guy on the bike?]

A small Ford Focus ZXW station wagon collided with a cyclist at the intersection of Fell and Masonic this afternoon.

This red Cannondale fixie had its fork torn in two.
