Prominent San Francisco landmark St. Ignatius Church at the University of San Francisco on Fulton Street has been around almost a hundred years, which is a long time for our town. But the view of these Catholic missile silos from the Leave-It-To Beaver section of McAllister Street is now ruined by this loud Crayola house.
Sic transit gloria San Francisco:

But if that doesn’t boil your blood, how about this sign from a couple houses over for tout le Monde to see?

There’s your sacrilege, one or the other.

As seen from Cole Valley, with a #37 bus rolling by.
St. Ignatius Church looks really close but the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park is in between, so this building (or at least the dome at the back of it, anyway) is fully three-quarters-of-a-mile away:

It almost looks Disneyesque when Sausalito sets off fireworks, like on the Fourth of July:

From Sacred Heart Academy in 1898, to College of the Sacred Heart in 1921, from Menlo Park, CA to San Francisco in the 1930’s with another name change to San Francisco College for Women, to Lone Mountain College for Women in 1968, to the Lone Mountain Campus of the University of San Francisco in 1978.
Suzanne Somers of Three’s Company fame got a music scholarship as an undergrad there in 1964 but had to leave when she got preggers in ‘65. There’s your short history – not easy to find much info about this place, you know.

ABC7 KGO TV”s I-Team, featuring chief investigative reporter Dan Noyes, brings news of a settlement in San Francisco’s Baker’s Dozen / News Year’s Bash / Gleegate incident from a couple years back. The question at the time was “what’s up with Ken Garcia“?
That was a reference to this column from January 2007: Ken Garcia: Politics bubble beneath Yale Baker’s Dozen case, which provided justification for what happened to the Baker’s Dozen. The trouble with this is today’s news of the statements from San Francisco locals Richard Aicardi and Brian Dwyer, who both go:
“There is no justification for what happened to the Baker’s Dozen.“
Yale’s Baker’s Dozen, during happier times:

So that’s the danger when you set up a straw man argument, one involving “singing saints” and “Catholic school thugs” – you might not be able to knock it down.
Lesson learned.

Lane splitting – everybody’s doing it, even SuzukiGirl. But what does John Law think about that?
Q. Can motorcycle riders “split” lanes and ride between other vehicles? A. Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible but must be done in a safe and prudent manner.
Does lane splitting irritate drivers? Perhaps, but who cares?
Go for it, dOoD. The University of California says lane splitting is good for you. Plus, these days you’ve got the Vatican-certified patron saint of motocycle riders, Columbanus of Bobbio, on your side.
Bonus.
