The Apple Retail Workers Union just had its first birthday. Here are the deets, from last year:
Cory Moll, a worker at our busy, busy Union Square Apple Store, is starting up a (can you guess by now?) UNION.
Oh noes!
See? Check it:

“Work Different,” it says:

Via Cory Moll
It’s not much yet, but Cory’s been getting national (and international) attention the past few months.
And folk art – there’s folk art already:

Hey, why doesn’t somebody, you know, in local media, look into this situation?
(Consider that a challenge to you, personally, if you want.)
All right, Apple workers, rise up and “Work Different.”
This is what it looks like when an Apple Store opens in the 415 – people seem genuinely happy, but who knows…

What’s this – Apple’s is doing “Union Awareness” training at Apple Stores all over the country this Tuesday morning, November 8, 2011?
Yes. Josh Lowensohn has the story.
Well, that’s news to me. Thanks, CNET!
And who’s the prime mover of this movement? It’s San Francisco resident Cory Moll, that’s who. (I don’t know why he doesn’t get more attention around town…)
Now if I were in charge of fighting unionization at Apple, I’d start handing out free bunny-ear iPhone cases to all workers. You know, as a way to win them over.

All right, we’ll just have to wait and see how this Apple vs union fight turns out.
In the meantime, feel free to send the unionizers a message, why not?

As you’re walking in the Presidio along Chestnut Street West (or whatever they call it these days) through the Letterman Digital Arts Center, you can look up and see this view through the windows of a walkway connecting buildings.
[Oh, these models are called maquettes, and the one in the middle is a spaceship of some type - see comments]
Can you ID the species? Sure you can…

Police Captain Ann Mannix of Northern Station took time out of her bizzay sked to Tweet about a couple fraud arrests in the Great White North:
“Great fraud arrest on wed, Apple Store victim; 2 suspects arrested with lots of Apple products from many stores in Salifornia bought with stolen credit cards, both suspects flew in from east coast for their spree.”
Criminals just love Apple products, huh?
This is how employees of the Apple Store on Chestnut greeted me when I walked in the joint on Opening Day back in aught-seven. Good times…

Let’s hope nobody else messes with the Big Apple:

Courage.

Here’s how it will be until the end of this week – you’ll be out and about on the Streets of San Francisco near Union Square, the Ferry Building or Fishermans Wharf and then you’ll encounter Gap‘s Cheer Squad and Drumline and/or their giant buffalo-plaid bus.
This peppy crew will be giving away stuff as they perform.
Thusly. This is a lot of air without a net, huh. As recently seen in NYC:

Apple retail stores are offering four free workshops that are recommended for kids ages 8 to 12 this summer. Sign them up today! But hurry, as spaces are filling up right now.
Is this how they will greet your tweens when they arrive at the three-hour workshops in July? We can only hope.

Talk with your young ‘uns and pick two of the following:
Podcast Workshop: — for kids with intermediate to advanced computer skills.
iWeb Workshop — for kids with beginner to advanced computer skills.
Music Workshop — for kids with beginner to advanced computer skills.
Movie Workshop — for kids with intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Apple is the new Borg – the sooner your kids realize that, the better. Give in.
See you there!
