The 8th Annual Walk for Life West Coast will start at Civic Center this year.
Will organizers lie about attendance by simply adding 5000 people to the previous year’s estimate as is their custom? We’ll just have to wait and see. Somebody will document the crowd overestimating, but I don’t know if it will be me this year…

“Due to a scheduling conflict, the Walk for Life will be unable to follow its familiar route from Justin Herman Plaza and along San Francisco’s waterfront to Marina Green. Instead, we will be gathering at Civic Center Plaza at 11:00 am for the Info Fair to be followed by the rally at 12:30 pm. At 1:30 we will start walking down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza. There will be no additional events at Justin Herman Plaza.

“Multi-Agency Joint Evacuation Exercise – Civic Center Area - ”Civic Response 2011″ – September 30th 2011, 10:30am
Exercise Overview
This will be a coordinated multi-organization joint evacuation drill involving the facilities management and security agencies, as well as the involved building tenants from within the San Francisco Civic Center area. This multi-agency drill will involve civilian and uniformed responders from the local and state government levels and is aimed at helping ensure public safety in the event of an actual emergency.
There will be approximately 1,500-1,800 building tenants evacuated and dozens of responders involved in this exercise. The participating agencies will activate their fire alarm plans and evacuate their tenants to pre-designated locations at Civic Center Plaza, UN Plaza, and the War Memorial area.
Participating Buildings – City Hall, Dept Public Health at 101 Grove Street, UC Hastings College of the Law, Veteran’s Building at 401 Van Ness.
The Command Post will be the SF PUC Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) which will be parked on Grove Street between Polk and Larkin across from the Bill Graham Auditorium.
Mission: All participating buildings will execute their evacuation plans simultaneously and safely while keeping aware of the other facilities tenants.”

Well it’s still early but there’s already pandemonium on the streets of San Francisco over the Giants winning the World Series 4-1.
As you can see, spectators are already lined up, camped out. The parade and celebration will soon begin.
And Placido Domingo, the greatest opera singer in modern times, is in the house.

Per Leanne Maxwell at SFist (San Francisco’s biggest and best blog) the Giants ticker tape parade starts at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 at Washington and Montgomery and, per President Larry Baer, the party in Civic Center will get started at around 12:30 PM.
You’ve just got to be there – the SFPD is expecting over 100,000 fans to be on hand. Deets below.

City to Honor Returning World Series Champions with Ticker-tape Parade Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Financial District to Civic Center Plaza
San Francisco, CA–Mayor Gavin Newsom announced tonight that San Francisco will host a ticker-tape parade and civic celebration in honor of the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. The parade will begin on Montgomery Street at Washington Street at 11 a.m. and go southbound on Montgomery Street to Market Street, before continuing westbound on Market Street to Civic Center Plaza. Following the parade, on the steps of City Hall, Mayor Newsom will present the team with the key to the City and honor the World Series Champions in a civic celebration. The parade route will replicate the route taken by the team when they first came to San Francisco from New York in 1958.
“San Francisco could not be prouder of its hometown San Francisco Giants tonight,” said Mayor Newsom. “Congratulations to every player on the roster and to the entire San Francisco Giants organization. You have earned this historic World Championship through your talent, determination and teamwork, defying the odds and bringing the entire City together throughout this remarkable season. San Francisco eagerly awaits your return, and we cannot wait to celebrate your triumph in Texas with a ticker tape parade and civic celebration to welcome you home.”
The sidewalks lining Wednesday’s ticker-tape parade down Montgomery and up Market Street and the celebration at Civic Center Plaza are open to all members of the public. Those viewing the parade and who wish to attend the celebration in Civic Center Plaza are advised to arrive early and take public transportation.
