“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Don’t Work – RAND Corporation Study Suports Gays in Uniform

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

You know how to read, right? So have at it – I just found a nice link for you that I couldn’t find last month. Hai, doozo:

Attitudes of Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans toward Gay and Lesbian Service Members

So, the “unit-cohesion” rationale, the concern about risking ”the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability” and all the underlying foundation of Bill Clinton’s antediluvian, pre-Lewinsky Policy Concerning Homosexuality in the Armed Forces is out the window due to changing attitudes over the past couple of decades.

Or if all that .pdf is too much, here’s the elevator pitch.

(President Barack Obama will end the policy, someday, maybe.)

All the deets, after the jump.

Don’t Believe in Clinton/Obama Unity Yet? Then You’re Delusional!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Comes now Randy Shaw of Beyond Chron (oops, try here or here instead – you know, if a bunch of people want to get something deleted from Wikipedia, they can do it. Man, what is it with some people?) who pronounces:

“Anyone who tells you there is disunity at this [Democratic National] convention is not simply delusional—they are flat out lying.”

Mmmm. That certainly matches the Party Line. Check out this “Joint Statement from Maggie Williams, Senior Advisor to Senator Clinton and David Axelrod, Senior Strategist to Senator Obama” regarding “THE FACT” of unity states this:

“Anyone saying anything else doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Period.”

However, this is all spin. People, there is disunity at this convention. All conventions really, but this one in particular. Some are unusually outraged.

At least these folks were unified, back in the day:

The people over at PUMA (Party Unity My Ass or People United Means Action) PAC would certainly beg to differ. (Might need to update this entry if PUMA talk keeps up.)

And speaking of which, was James Carville wearing Puma shoes on the convention floor? Perhaps this was just a wardrobe malfunction?

Oh well. San Franciscans might want to come down to the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in the Financial District on Thursday night, August 28th, to check out some genuine unity when Obama speaks.

Supreme Master Television is Going Global

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Well, there she is – it’s the Supreme Master going down Market Street on the side of a Honda! All to announce the news that Supreme Master Television is going global. What’s that, you can’t tune into the Eurobird or the Intelsat KU-Band? Well then just check things out on the net.

But whatever you do, don’t call it “cult television,” the way some people do. How wude! Would “cult television” give you a joke of the day finished off with a one-second cut showing the visage of “God’s Direct Contact” herself?

Of course, there are some downsides. Spoiler alert. Supreme Master Ching Hai has directives:

  • Refrain from taking the life of sentient beings
  • Refrain from speaking what is not true
  • Refrain from taking what is not offered
  • Refrain from sexual misconduct
  • Refrain from the use of intoxicants
  • On the other hand, she raised thousands of dollars for President Bill Clinton, back in the day, and who could object to that?

Remember, “go veg, be green, save the planet!”

Obama Campaign Higher-Ups are Livid at an Unidentified “Local Fundraising Consultant”

    Monday, April 14th, 2008

How did famous blogger Mayhill Fowler get inside that recent controversial Obama event in San Francisco that some people are calling a miracle for Hillary Clinton? From Matier and Ross:

Just how the MP3-wielding Fowler managed to secure an invite to the $1,000 a head fundraiser at the San Francisco home of developer Alex Mehran wasn’t immediately clear – but Obama campaign higher-ups were said to be livid, with fingers pointing at a local fundraising consultant for the slip-up.

Everyone was all smiles in San Francisco at this event last year, anyway

Without getting some more information, it’s hard to say just what went wrong. Perhaps the official invitation to the event holds a clue.

Who is the person that’s being held responsible? Check it out, after the jump.

Update: Is Mayhill referred to as a roach under a sofa here on barackobama.com? You make the call.

Denial Runs Deep – These People Still Want to Count Florida and Michigan

    Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Sighted yesterday in front of the 2008 Democratic Party State Convention.

Look at these poor souls who don’t yet realize that decisions made in Florida and Michigan last year mean that voters from those states won’t get to have their say on the Democratic primary?

Don’t they know that the primary is over? Well, not quite. Anything can happen.
