Scoot

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

I’ve never moved a Scoot to escape, myself.

Another close parker on the Streets of San Francisco:

Oh, if only all Scoot-ers were perfect parkers

Here It Is, Here’s the Result of $50,000,000(!) Worth of Pacific Coast Highway Reconstruction – Reconnecting Muir Beach with Stinson Beach

Thursday, January 4th, 2018

This was your view a few days ago, looking south (east? southeast?) along Highway One from Rocky Point Road near Stinson:

At the time, Google Maps said that this road was open but two signs saying ROAD CLOSED overruled that I suppose.

Here are all the deets about all the activity the past year.

And here’s a recent Google Maps update:

A few days ago, Google had the stretch of road north of the red arrow as squiggly red, to show that it was closed to most people all the way up to Stinson Beach. These days, Google shows everything as open as far as I can see. (I’m just a tourist way up there, some 12 miles north of Frisco County, so usually G,IJDK what’s going on.)

Here’s part of where your money is going, on all matter of earth movers and mobile cranes:

District: 4 – Oakland
Contact: Steve Williams
Phone: (510) 286-6195

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Caltrans To Open Highway 1 Between Muir Woods And Stinson Beach
Thursday, January 4, Before Noon

One-Way Traffic Control to be In Place
MARIN COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today the closed portion of State Route 1 between Muir Beach and Stinson Beach will open to one-way traffic control on Thursday, January 4, sometime before noon.

The stretch of roadway was closed since February of 2017 to the extensive storm damage. Drivers should anticipate lengthy delays because there are still six active projects along that section of Highway 1. There will be flaggers and signalized operations, along with stepped up construction zone enforcement throughout the entire corridor. The majority of those projects will be complete by June, 2018.

More information is available by visiting this link:
http://www.dot.ca.gov/d4/stormdamageprojects2017

To date, the repairs for all the projects on that corridor are approximately $50 million.

Frisco’s Nicest Garage Owners: Gingerly Pulling Out Instead of Calling the SFMTA to Tow Away _Two_ Vehicles

Tuesday, December 26th, 2017

I didn’t think they could make it but they did:

Both of the parked cars are illegally parked, perhaps two feet away from where they should be. If only one had followed the rules, then this wagon could have gotten out easily, instead of requiring a spotter.

I cry foul.

Anyway, this is the worst I’ve seen, in all my years…

Frisco Boats vs. Frisco Whales – How Close is Too Close? – “iSailboat” Bears Down on Diving Humpback

Thursday, July 6th, 2017

IDK the answer to this question.

This is prolly the closest I saw the past week or so. A large Beneteau 40 sailboat (named iSailboat, worth what, a couple hundred thou?) east of the Golden Gate Bridge was just seconds away from having its hull or keel hitting this humpback:

You know, IMO.

Other recent examples:

Not real sailing here, just puttering around with the whales for a while.

Anyway, just saying.

Parking Crisis Leads to a Fail, in Two Ways

Friday, June 23rd, 2017

First up is that you’re not supposed to leave your ride touching other cars. It just aint right.

And then on the other side, you can’t leave your bumper hanging over a crosswalk.

My Rx is a Scion IQ (out of production, due to lack of popularity) or a Smart car. Either would solve both probs…

Parallel Parking Grand Champion: There’s a Whole Lot of Right or a Whole Lot of Wrong in This Photo

Friday, March 17th, 2017

Those unfamiliar with Frisco, many ppl, have asked me if cars ever get stuck in street parking spaces, owing to no lines telling you where to park.

So if Bro here, who’s now trying to escape, parked in this space without causing mayhem and then managed to expertly go on his way, well then BRAVO:

IMG_5969 copy

But more likely, he was blocked in and had to wait to get out. (I didn’t stick around to find out.)

In that case, this sitch is either the fault of the Subie driver ahead or the Honda driver behind. One simply can’t tell…

Both these rides in the Inner Richmond weren’t being parked, they were parked parked, like with no drivers/passengers around.
