OTOH, if you voted against Ed Lee for Mayor, your choice for the next D5 Supervisor is Julian Davis. Throw in a couple other choices if you want, but make sure neither one is London Breed or Interim Supervisor and Total Sellout Christine Olague. (Or should I say Christine “8 Washington” Olague? Or should I say Christine “Perjurer Accomplice” Olague?)

Hey, is PG&E a “Sponsor” of this event, on September 9th, 2012, the two year anniversary of PG&E’s San Bruno Pipeline Explosion, the one that killed eight souls? I think so.

(I wish San Francisco had just an average kind of utility monopoly instead of motherfucking PG&E. Speaking of which, a while back they inquired about how much it would cost to advertise some PR campaign on this tiny blog. I was like GTFO – I ignored it. Interestingly, presented with a similar offer, the San Francisco Bay Guardian said bring it, and so then PGE’s signature blue banner ads started appearing at SFBG.com, I’m seriously. Ah memories. )

*I’m sure he’d be delighted to have her on board. Now, she’s a little PO’ed these days about how she kind of got screwed over by Interim Mayor Ed Lee earlier this year, oh and by Willie Brown and Rose Pak and all, but I’m sure Mayor Lee and his minders would adapt to London’s election swimmingly. (Of course Ed Lie said he would stay out of this particular race and of course now he’s now picking sides in D5, you know, just a few months later, but he also said he wouldn’t run for Mayor. In fact that’s why he became Interim Mayor, based on that other promise. Hence the sobriquet Ed Lie.) Anyway, Republican billionaire Ron Conway threw her a few bucks a little while ago – that’s telling, IMO. Oh, and DiFi just endorsed her, and you can’t get any more Establishment than DiFi I don’t think.

Ooh, now let’s check in with weak-willed “Progressive” Christina Olague. Here’s her campaign.

I’ll tell you, if you like Ed Lee’s neo stop-and-frisk policy for the SFPD, then you should vote for Christina Olague, cause, you know, she worked hard to ensure that voters would choose Ed Lee over Supervisor John Avalos in the last mayoral election.

Oh, and here’s her most recent vote of no confidence. Per Samson Wong of AsianWeek:

“EMPRESS HAS NO CLOTHES: Some overconfidence in District 5 Supervisor Christina Olague’s campaign before last week’s August 15 SF Democratic Party county committee endorsement vote. Only days before, Bill Barnes, veteran campaign manager, government staffer and former District 5 candidate himself, came in to corral votes for the supervisor representing Japantown, Haight-Ashbury and Western Addition. One strategic error made – assuming an inflated head count that Olague would snag the important SF Democratic Party endorsement. In reality, no consensus had developed for Olague and her rivals - London Breed of the African American Arts and Culture Complex, Julian Davis of the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center or College Board member John Rizzo. The outcome – a public embarrassment for Olague, the Mayor Ed Lee appointee…”

Or London Breed, that’s the other choice for Ed Lee fans in D5, believe it or not. (She has the support of Republican billionaire Ron Conway, so that’s your big fat clue regarding how she rolls.)

Oh look, lots of people were there with these signs, regarding the corrupt 8 Washington project.

But I think we’ll get a chance to vote on this issue next year so this isn’t really on the top of the agenda these days.

Here are the introductions:

Andrew Resignato - A “people-powered campaign.” Sort of looks like Ross Mirkarimi.

Daniel Everett – Of Folk Law Radio

John Rizzo - He fixes problems, he has an engineering background.

London Breed – She was born in District Five. She was born in District Five. She was born in District Five. One imagines she’s still turbo-pissed at Mayor Ed Lie for not appointing her earlier this year. She’s raised the most money and has the support of Kamala Harris and Willie Brown.

Christina Olague - Pronounced ”oh law gee” with a hard “g?” News to me. (Does she have a cold or is that her voice? Wow.)

“Hello. My name is, uh, Christina Olague. I’m Supervisor of this District. I was appointed in January. And I’m very thrilled and excited to be, uh, serving the community as the district Supervisor.”

And then later, more talk about how this inarticulate person is Supervisor.

And oh, here’s the big pitch for supporters, which I’ll tell you I didn’t see any:

“We need your presence!!! Please come out to hold up signs, wear your Tee Shirts and pass out literature. All the Candidates will be there. We want them to see strong support for Christina Olague. Got Questions? Call 415-724-0136 – Shelley B. Bell”

So, the Olague campaign wants the other candidates to see Olague has lots of support? OK fine, if that’s the way you want to do it.

Anyway, she’s a big fat SELLOUT and that’s why she got appointed over a moderate like London Breed.

And oh, she’s lying about that whole perjury issue with the Mayor and Ross Mirkarimi. Oh well.

Thea Selby - ”I am super happy to be here…” Apparently, running for Supe is “hecka more fun” than you can imagine. And, apparently, everybody should consider running.

Julian Davis – “There are pro-development interests that are controlling the agenda of City Hall.”

This was the first attack against the Interim Supe during this forum.

“How do they get away with it? I’ll tell you – they get away with it by choosing your leaders for you. Over the past two years in San Francisco we have seen an appointed Mayor, an appointed District Attorney, an appointed Sheriff, and an appointed District Five Supervisor. Ask yourself is that’s participatory democracy the way we envisioned it? The answer is that it is not.”

Hope Johnson –

“…if those people are really representing you or if they are merely selling out to the highest bidder. And as Supervisor, I would hope to continue to ensure that government acts in our best interests and try to curb the abuse of authority some of which you’ve heard Mr. Davis talk about just a few minutes ago.”

And there you have it.

Here’s Why Tonight’s District Five Debate Doesn’t Matter – Oh, and Let’s Mention Run Ed Run, 8 Washington, Etc.

The reason why tonight’s D5 Democratic Club (warning: links to FB) debate doesn’t matter:

Christina Olague is going to win the election, that’s why.

The reason for that is because she’s already been appointed to the job.

The reason for that is because she sold out her “progressive” values in order to get appointed. Remember RUN ED RUN? That was Christina Olague.

And hey, remember that whole perjury thing involving, speak of the Devil, Mayor Ed Lie and Commissioner Debra Walker? Remember how one protagonist spoke clearly and freely at City Hall and the other panicked and ran away to hide like a stupid cow? That runner and hider was Christina Olague, who said she might have to recuse herself from the Ross Mirkarimi vote due to, due to what? Due to somebody saying something? I don’t get that.

Anywho, there are institutional reasons why it benefits all parties concerned to host/attend this shindig, so here it comes.

AUGUST 8 Meeting Reminder

Dear District 5 Democrat,

Don’t miss out. On Wednesday, August 8, we’ll be hosting the first debate for the District 5 candidates for Supervisor from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Park Branch Library in the Haight.

The D5 Dem Club will also be making our endorsement for Supervisor. All registered club members and Democrats who have attended at least one prior meeting in the past year will have an opportunity to vote for their top-3 preferred candidates at this important discussion.

The debate and endorsement meeting will be held at the Park Branch Library in the Haight, 1833 Page St. The debate will begin promptly at 6:30pm, but members will be able to cast their endorsement vote at any time during the meeting. Voting will end promptly at 8:30pm and votes will be tallied at that time.

All registered candidates have been invited to participate, and once again we want to thank all the members who have join our club and made introductions to our members.

Gee, what’s wrong with appointed Supervisor Christina Olague, you know, if she can’t even get endorsed by her own Assemblymember?

Anyway, here’s the news of the day:

“Assemblymember Tom Ammiano Endorses John Rizzo for District 5 Supervisor

SAN FRANCISCO — Longtime San Francisco activist and California Assemblymember Tom Ammiano has endorsed John Rizzo for District 5 Supervisor.

Ammiano has served San Francisco for three decades as a teacher, civil rights leader, SF School Board President, Supervisor, and Assembymember. He cited Rizzo’s leadership experience, both with City College and as a Sierra Club leader, as well as his commitment to finding creative and effective solutions to today’s biggest problems.

“In the years I’ve known John Rizzo, he has proven his dedication to public education, a greener San Francisco, and civil rights,” said Ammiano. “He’ll bring the kind of progressive policy solutions we need to City Hall, and has the experience to get them passed.”

“I am honored by Assemblymember Ammiano’s endorsement,” said Rizzo. “We have always shared values on issues such as education and the environment and I’m proud that he supports my bid for Supervisor.”

The endorsement comes at a great time for Rizzo’s campaign, which has been building momentum through an intensive field program that has seen campaigners on the ground in the District every day.

John Rizzo is also endorsed by Senator Leland Yee, Supervisor Eric Mar, the Sierra Club, and other elected officials and community and business leaders.

John Rizzo was twice elected to the Community College Board and is the former chair of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. He has a proven track record as an effective leader in government and education, in protecting the environment, parks and Muni, and in bringing jobs to San Francisco. Some of his accomplishments include spearheading adoption of the GoSolarSF program which quadrupled the city’s solar capacity and created hundreds of jobs, and creating a “local hire” initiative at City College, which ensures that San Franciscans are put to work on taxpayer-funded construction projects.

As a 27-year resident of District 5, John raised his daughter through San Francisco public schools and is a dedicated MUNI rider. He is committed to fighting for our neighborhoods, our schools, and our city.

Labor, Environmental Leaders to Release Report Outlining How Commercial Office Buildings Can Achieve True Zero Waste by 2020

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – POSTPONED members the BlueGreen Alliance and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 87 will join with local labor, environmental and civic leaders to release and show support for the report

Making Zero Mean Zero: Waste Diversion in San Francisco’s Commercial Office Buildings.

Findings in the report reveal actions at some of the city’s commercial buildings are hampering the city’s efforts to achieve zero waste and the report outlines recommendations to achieving true zero waste by 2020 — a goal of the city.

The report was prepared by the BlueGreen Alliance — a national partnership of unions and environmental organizations representing 14 million members and supporters.

WHAT: Labor, environmental, and civic leaders call for commercial office buildings owners in San Francisco to reduce waste and increase recycling. The event will feature Spanish speakers.

So, do I think we’re going to have a million electric cars on the road by 2015, as was pledged? Nope!

And do I think that 10% of all trips in San Francisco will be made by bicycle by 2010? Oh, wait, we missed that one already – that got pushed back to 2020, when 20% of all trips made in San Francisco will be made by bicycle, for sure, like totally man, like guaranteed. (And then when that doesn’t happen, the new goal will be 30% of all trips made in San Francisco being made by bicycle by the year 2030.) Anyway, nope!

And now, do I think that all the commercial office buildings of San Francisco will produce “true zero waste” by 2020? Nope!

Anyway, don’t go to City Hall at 11:30 AM tomorrow cause nothing’ll be going on…

Accidental Mayor Ed Lee on Christina: “She knows who her friends are.”

And then she thanks corrupt Chinatown Power Broker Rose Pak, you know, for the $46k.

Here you go, from Table 22, you know, upstairs at that place you’ve spent* far, far, too many hours in, watching the room-temperature plastic bottles of Canada Dry ginger ale spinning on the lazy susans:

The City Family wanted a compliant, so-called Progressive to represent District 5.

The City Family found Christina Olague.

Here’s One Way, Just One Way, That San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee Can Get Out of that Perjury Thing with Christina Olague

“Mayor Lee, before you decided to file charges for misconduct here, did you talk to any members of the Board of Supervisors about whether or not you should do so?” Kopp asked.

“I did not,” Lee replied.

Minutes later, a bomb threat delayed the hearing for nearly two hours.”

Now, of course Debra Walker could be lying or she could be confused or what have you.

BUT I DON’T THINK SO!

I’m srsly.

So what are we left with?

How about this? What if Mayor Ed Lee discussed Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi with so-called Progressive Supervisor Christina Olague after he decided to file charges.*

See how that works? (Something like, “Oh yeah, I was just patronizing her, trying to make her feel good by asking for advice.”)

And there are three or four other explanations I can think of that would similarly keep Ed Lee out of the clink.

Even though he’s lying.

Now, let’s hear from appointed Supervisor Christina Olague. What would she have had to say, if she hadn’t gotten all flummoxed and, you know, run off to hide in her office?

Either:

1. I may be slow,* but I’m ahead of you; or

2. RUN ED RUN!

You Make The Call.

*You know, assuming that he wasn’t previously nailed down on the exact moment he decided to file charges.

**Indeed, the least intelligent*** Supervisor we’ve got these days.
