Jackson Street Tableau: What Bus Drivers Have To Deal With That They Didn’t Use To – UBER, Lyft, and Lots of Package Delivery

Thursday, March 8th, 2018

I’ll tell you, the (actual or soon-to-be) millionaires living at or near the highest-numbered block of Jackson Street, well they must be overjoyed that VC’s are subsidizing their dirt-cheap chauffeured rides home from the Financh in brand-new Lexuses, non?

Now back in the day, you’d have to pay more for a junky old taxi ride home, and then of course taxis were tough to hail, owing to longstanding SFGov / SFMTA policies, oh well. And look, here comes a Lyft Prius, going around the also double-parked DHL package delivery van, you know, now that we get lots and lots of stuff delivered.

Anyway, the DHL could have easily parked in front of a garage, as could have the UBER driver, you know, instead of double parking.

And of course yes we had taxis double parking back in the old days, and delivery trucks too, but now we have lots more vehicles to deal with – we have UBER and Lyft taxis and all those delivery trucks.

My point is that this scene from 2018 looks a lot different from 2008 or 1998…

Our US Postal Service Gets an Early Start with Parking in the New Bike Lanes of Masonic Avenue

And this lengthy project isn’t even done yet:

Where will these trucks park after completion?

– The slow lane, leaving just one for MUNI and cars?

– The slightly elevated bike lane, as seen?

– The new overly-wide sidewalks?

– Some yet-to-be-designated delivery vehicle / UBER Lyft dropoff point?

The Reason Why Your “Diverse” Private Kindergarten Gets Less Diverse Year by Year – Am I a Kenny? – Oh, I’m a Kenny

Thursday, October 26th, 2017

‘Cause it’s hard to fit in, and the older you get the more you understand that.

So yeah, you might have a “scholarship,” but then you see the line of double-parked nannies, after school, every day, patiently waiting, some with ginned-up school-issued parking passes on the dash, in their Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismos or G-Wagen Geländewagens or even more umlaut-laden GL-Wagen Geländewagen, Luxuriöses and whatnot and then…

…you start to feel like poor poor Kenny McCormick…

…even though you’re not, not really, but then you start to drift away and maybe find another place to go to school.

And then your old school is less diverse at the higher grades, but it’s kind of too late to do anything about it now say the others.

Not complaining, just explaining…

What Happens When You Hail an UBER / LYFT to an Address Like 525 Market? – Temporary Chaos, That’s What

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

Market in the Financh is down to just one lane, in parts, these days, right? So you can’t just stop and wait for your fare to come down an elevator, right? Frisco aint Tracy, CA, right?

After getting yelled out by Bike To Work Day, Uber driver from the South Bay scooched on over enough to let more people squeeze by.

It’s just not possible to legally pick riders up like this, sry.

The Only Time I’ve Seen Rainbow Grocery Without a Line of Idling Cars Double-Parked Out Front

Monday, May 11th, 2015

Hippies love cars. Did you know that?

These cars are legally parked – I’m used to seeing another row of cars queuing up, parked in the slow lane, all the live-long day…

BTW, these days there are more vehicles registered in San Francisco County than ever before.

And let’s not talk about all the extra unregistered vehicles we have, like owned by people who move here from a different state and never get CA plates, like for years and years.

Anyway, maybe I caught RG on a slow day, but Trader Joe’s #100 up on Masonic fixed its similar issue, more or less, years ago, so why can’t Rainbow?
