Frisco’s First Official “Lyft PICKUP AND DROP-OFF ZONE” – It’s Just Temporary, But Is This Our Future?

Just a temporary deal, for fans of “Your San Francisco Deltas” professional* soccer team:

(A mini convertible Cadillac Escalade and a convertible Jeep are at the ready.)

So, is this kind of temporary pop-up zone going to be a part of Frisco’s Future? Maybe. (Our SFMTA is working on this kind of thing, to reduce double-parking, for starters. We’ll see.)

So, are UBER drivers welcome here as well? IDK

And then, are UBER / Lyft drivers welcome here? Again, IDK.

IMO, this kind of branding should have nothing to do with RPD, and SFGov should be above this kind of “public private partnership.” So, Wreck and Park should ditch the trademarked pink and the “lyft” graphics the next chance it gets, which will be in a couple weeks, for the last match of the regular season of the San Francisco Deltas.

See you there. (But I’ve never Lyfted, and I’ve never UBER’ed neither, and I’m not about to start. Pity me!)

*It was a big deal for Rec and Park to set up Kezar for this inaugural 2017 season, which could very well be this team’s last season, we’ll have to wait and see.

Message to UBER / Lyft Drivers: Welcome to Frisco – Now Here’s the Right Way/Wrong Way to Drop People Off

Frisco doesn’t have all that many freeways, have you noticed that yet? Instead we have substitutes like Fell / Oak and Bush / Pine – one way streets two or three or four lanes wide.

But you wouldn’t just stop to let somebody off on a freeway, right? Why not pull in to a driveway instead, if you know it’s going to take a while? You see, it all depends on the situation. But the reason why people are honking at you is because you’re differing from the norms what have been established here. Sometimes double parking for a minute or two or more or a lot more is considered acceptable and sometimes its not. It’s a time / place / manner thing. Simply following Google Maps to an address and then stopping right out front on the road is sometimes not good is what I’m saying…

And now this, an UBER Lift driver who pulled into an alley to drop off, same day same place as above.

This is very rare. The problem is that the driver then had to back out of here with an awkward three or five point turn and then try to get back on congested Laguna, which was particularly clogged up at this time. It would have been totally fine to unload during the 35 seconds or so that you’d be staring at a red light. In this case, you’re being far too polite.

So that’s it, lesson finished.

And you know, I don’t know how it’s going to end for you all. Relying on a constant stream of new people coming in reminds me of an Herbalife situation, which I don’t know how that’s going to work out either…

Jerry Brown Throws Down: Owners of Recalled Toyotas and Lexuses Get Loaner Cars

California Attorney General Jerry Brown can’t abide you fretting over your recalled Toyota or Lexus – so he just struck a deal with Toyota USA so that you’ll be taken care of when getting service.

It’s all going to be on a case-by-case basis, so if you’re totally freaked out and you just don’t want to drive your car no mo, then maybe your dealership can send somebody to come around your place to pick up your car, fix it and return it as good as new. Or you can get a loaner if your repairs go into extra innings.

Brown Forges Deal with Toyota to Help Consumers While Recalled Vehicles are Repaired

Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that his office has reached an agreement with Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. to provide California Toyota owners with at-home pickup and vehicle return and cost-free alternative transportation while their recalled vehicles are being repaired.

“This agreement goes a long way towards easing the burden caused by Toyota’s massive recall,” Brown said. “It will now be much easier for Toyota owners to get to work and take their kids to school while critical safety repairs are made on their cars.”

Under the terms of today’s agreement, Toyota will provide owners of recalled vehicles the following services:

– Pick-up and return of vehicles by the dealership;
– Transportation to the dealership and/or to the owner’s place of work;
– Alternative transportation, such as a rental car, loaner vehicle or taxi reimbursement for a reasonable period that the customer is unable or unwilling to use his or her car; and
– Expedited scheduling for repair services.

These services will be provided by Toyota through the dealers at no cost to either the owners or the dealer.

The following Toyota vehicle recalls are covered by today’s agreement:
– September 29, 2009 for floormat entrapment;
– January 21, 2010 for sticking accelerator pedals;
– February 8, 2010 for anti-lock brake system issues; and
– February 12, 2010 for drive-shaft failure.

The following vehicles are involved in the recent Toyota and Lexus vehicle recalls: 2005-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 Camry, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2007-2010 ES 350, 2008-2010 Highlander, 2006-2010 IS 250 and IS350, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2004-2009 Prius, 2010 Prius, 2009-2010 RAV4, 2008-2010 Sequoia, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2009-2010 VENZA, and 2010 HS 250h.

More information on the specific vehicles affected by the recalls can be found at www.nhtsa.dot.gov and www.toyota.com/recall.

Californians are encouraged to contact their local Toyota and Lexus dealers if they believe they are eligible for these accommodations. Consumers can also contact Toyota’s customer service center at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.

This agreement will remain in place until all Toyota vehicles subject to the recall have been repaired. If additional safety recalls arise, an extension of this agreement or other appropriate provisions will be pursued.
