When Oh When Will San Francisco Be Rid of Vaillancourt Fountain? It Riffs Off a Freeway That’s No Longer There

Vaillancourt Fountain was a comment on its former neighbor, the Embarcadero Freeway. But the freeway is all gone, so why are we still stuck with the fountain?

Remember when SFGov shut down this fountain back in 2000 to save on operating costs?

Why not let’s do that again?

We’ve Had Height Limits Near the Waterfront for 50 Years So That Rose Pak Could Come Along to Benefit from 8 Washington?

Apparently.

Notice that the tall buildings have been kept away from the waterfront going way back before the Loma Prieta Earthquake.

So just as the long-gone Embarcadero Freeway (see it?) is connected with the Bridge-to-Nowhere, Big Dig Central Subway, the “wired8 Washington project is connected with the Chinatown voting stencils effort recently exerted to elect Accidental Mayor Ed Lee.
