The driver of this car was taking Oak to get back to the Peninsula this afternoon but she ended up flipping her Honda Civic just before Divisadero.

So as traffic backed up for miles along Oak, the SFPD began its investigation:

San Francisco’s “Comeback Neighborhood of the Year” is the host of this scene, betwixt abandoned sidewalk sofas and the LaunderLand:
Now I’ll tell you, we were supposed to get a freeway to link up the terminuseses of 101 and 280 with the Golden Gate Bridge, but what we got instead was Fell and Oak with three or four one-way lanes each way timed for 35 MPH. But these days, for various reasons, the Fell/Oak twins don’t play the substitute freeway role as well.
Recently, this intersection at Divis. has become a bottleneck owing to the inefficient* left arrow phase for southbound traffic on Divisadero to allow drivers to get on eastbound Oak. I’m not sure, but this configuration might have confused or upset the Civic driver, who was driving “all squirrelly” near Broderick shortly before this accident.

*Hey, how about a big fat “NO LEFT TURN” sign for southbound drivers on Divisadero? This intersection wasn’t made “for the neighbors,” so there’s no reason for the people who live in this area to have more of a say than those poor, wretched souls who live way out there in the West Bay, you know, the Sunset and the Richmond. This new left turn phase, like the one at Octavia for inbound Market Street drivers, appears to be a sop for DivCo / NoPA / EaPA locals…

Market Street is playing host to the return of Jenna Elfman to San Francisco these days. She starred in Dharma and Greg on the TV back in the 90′s and the oughts, so she’s what people think about when they think of San Francisco and Haight-Ashbury and hippies and whatnot.

And she’s Yet Another Scientologist, did not know that. She’s part of a decades-long attempt to normalize Scientology as Your Next Religion. (This bus shelter ad is as much about that effort as selling Flip cameras, actually.)
You see, that’s how they roll Down Hollywood Way.

Remember back earlier this month when people promoting Kodak’s version of a Flip camera thought it was all viral to vandalise the giant 15-ton Buddha down in Civic Center? Well, the sculpture is all cleaned up now. Let’s take a look.

No attempt was made to clean things up for a while so here’s the way it looked when I was taking some girl to the Costco on Wednesday:
See? (There was other graffiti elsewhere of course.)
Well, check it, it’s all cleaned up now. They must have done this Thursday A.M. As it looks today:
Sacrilege never looked so good.
I’m calling this an A-one clean-up job.

I haven’t seen the “Jesus is the One” graffito on our giant Shanghai Buddha down in Civic Center, but I did manage to catch some tagging and stickering.

Now yesterday, Jackson West pointed out that a stickerer of the Buddha was “caught on tape” (so to speak) on one of a series of videos being used to promote Kodak’s new Flip-like digital video camera, the rugged, waterproof Play Sport Zx3. But then, somebody edited the vid, so now you can’t see the culprit on the video.
Oh, wait a sec, how about this? Here is one of the scenes that was visible yesterday but not today. So, who are “those are the dipshits who would tag the big buddha statue?” Here’s the answer from my video cache (so to speak) of the Uptown Almanac:
Sadly, it appears that one of the scenes featuring this green-screen gentleman got cut. (Really, it’s an awesome video all-around. Thanks Kodak Marketing Department!)
It seems our corporate overlords are always trying to think of new ways to get to us, huh? Oh well.
Will the giant Buddha-heads start crying due to all the abuse?
