San Francisco 49ers Cancel Annual Lunch, But Family Day Goes Forward

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Here’s what the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce had to say when they found out the annual luncheon with the Niners ain’t gonna happen this year:

“Our main reaction is disappointment,” said Carol Piasente, the chamber’s vice president of communications and events.

(At least they’re taking it better than Otto West would.) Maybe last year’s chant led by Senator Dianne Feinstein played a factor in the cancellation?

Irregardless, KNBR 49er Family Day is ON this Saturday, June 7th.

It’s on! It’s free!

The day will feature contests, games and appearances by members of the 49ers football team, alumni, Gold Rush, Niners Noise Drumline and Sourdough Sam.  Fans are encouraged to arrive early to take in all of the day’s festivities.

See you there.

The Best Places to Get Drugs Always Seem to be in “Drug Free Zones”

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Why’s that?

You’d think a “drug free” area would be bereft of scoring opportunities, but that doesn’t appear to be the case around Hippy Hill in the Haight Ashbury section of San Francisco.

Proper Etiquette When Waiting in Line for Free Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

What’s the first thing to do once you get a free ice cream cone on the birthday of Ben & Jerry’s? Eat it, of course.

But you might as well get back in line so that when you’re done eating you’ll be at the front and ready to choose another flavor. Some might take the time to finish their cones before queuing up to attempt to get some more, but carpe diem, you dig?

Your behavior might hack off the people behind you, but only slightly.

The best way to pass the time waiting for free ice cream is eating free ice cream in an endless loop:

Speaking of free (or almost free) ice cream, Baskin Robins is having their 31 Cent Scoop Night today, April 30, 2008, starting at 5:00 PM. Sadly, not all BRs will offer this deal and you will be limited to buying only just ten cones.

(And there’s always frogurt from Tuttimelon, still having their temporary 99-cent special. If you swing that way)

Find a participating store near you or check this list below and after the jump:

Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day a Raging Success in San Francisco

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Normally, teens never sit around on sidewalks in the Haight, but today was special so these kids made themselves right at home on Ashbury Street.

The favorite flavor of the thousands of patrons? That would have to be Cake Batter, one of the best ever. And almost definitely salmonella-free.

Check the video of Ben and Jerry’s recent visit to the Bay Area. Why not?

BART is Free for Kids all day on May 4th - “Ride the Chocolate Line” with the Nesquik Bunny

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Hey parents! Are you sick of getting only a 62.5% discount for your kids aged 4 to 12 when you ride on the Bay Area Rapid Transit? Well then, May 4, 2008 is your lucky day because that’s when the discount goes up all the way to 100%, courtesy of the Nestle Nesquik Bunny.

The Bunny’s neck bling used to be a giant letter “Q” but it looks like he’s moved on to a giant letter “N”. Fair enough. Mark your calendar today.
