OMG, BJORN AGAIN! Disgraced San Francisco PR Flack Peter Ragone Lands a Job with Mayor Bill de Blasio in NYC

Monday, January 6th, 2014

Well, here’s the news, look who just got appointed to the Bill de Blasio regime in New Yawk:

“Peter Ragone, a consultant who worked with de Blasio at HUD before going on to handle communications for Al Gores 2000 presidential run and for Gov. Cuomo’s 2002 primary bid, as a senior advisor.”

Now let’s travel all the way back to 2007:

“[Newsom's] admission[*] came as his aggressive and seasoned spokesman, Peter Ragone, was fighting his own battles: A local investigative television team had reported that Ragone was posting hostile comments about Newsom’s critics on a local blog under names other than his own. When confronted with the fact that the postings had been traced to his home computer, Ragone insisted that the author, “John Nelson,” was his best friend who often stayed at his home. Ragone later admitted that he had posted the comments, but he said he did so to reflect Nelson’s views. Ragone also posted under the name “Bjorn.”

Indeed. The “local blog” mentioned by the LAT is SFist.

Peter Ragone By The Numbers

After all this, Peter Ragone had to go – he got voted off the island.

So I’m afraid that I’m going to have to disagree with the quite lengthy Wikipedia entry on Peter Ragone III, you know, the one written by … Peter Ragone! Or “John Nelson!” Or “Bjorn!” You see, Ragone writes that he “sparked a minor controversy after admitting he posted…” So maybe you could spin it that way, but the real controversy was actually about all the lies he told after he got busted. That’s why he had to go.

Now let’s see how well he does on that island off the east coast of America.

(Look out, Gothamist.)

*This was around the time that man-child Gavin Newsom decided it would be a good time start hanging out** with a teenaged Republican restaurant hostess. I’ll tell you, the people behind the mayor Willie Brown / Gavin Newsom / Ed Lee administration are deeeeeeeeeeeeelighted not to have to deal with Gavin Newsom drama anymore.

Here’s the “Solution” for the Deadly Pedestrian Problem at Trader Joe’s #100 on Masonic – Is It Enough? Maybe

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013

You see this sign? It’s the one you see as you exit TJ’s #100 on Masonic near Geary, assuming you’re not driving or riding.

It was put in as a response to all those shoppers who jaywalk to their cars on the other side of Masonic.

People still jaywalk of course, owing to the ease of parking on the northbound side of Masonic and the difficulty encountered trying to park in the TJ’s lot.  (There’s a lot of history here on this example of bad planning.)

Did I call for this sign? Yes I did. So it’s good that it’s there now. It wasn’t there a couple of years ago, so good on you, SFGov.

But can SFGov and TJ’s do more? Sure. Hey, why don’t the Powers That Be take the opportunity revisit this whole situation before others kill themselves?

Right? I mean I’m not talking politically, ’cause the politics part of getting a new gro sto here is already done. But, you know, morally.

Just asking.

Moving on…

Now here’s an example of people actually taking the several minutes required to get back to their cars by walking down to Geary and waiting for the four-way signal.

This gal here broke from her shopping group to jaywalk while her friends did things the legal way.

(Until this, I’ve never noticed a person not  jaywalking,)

So here she is, sitting pretty whilst waiting for her friends, exulting in her ability to not get hit by a car on this occasion:

I don’t notice this kind of scene as much these days so that’s good.

That’s the update.

How San Francisco Works, in a Nutshell – City Commissioners Listed by “Race,” Such as “Caucasian (Gay)”

Now this is from a decade back, but it shows how SFGov thinks these days as well.

It shows the racial identity of some San Francisco Commissioners:

Web Designer and “Girl in Tech” Kari Suleman Offers $30 for a “TaskRabbit” to Wait in Line for Her at Dottie’s True Blue Cafe

Monday, July 15th, 2013

Per Mid-Market resident Bluoz:

“It was inevitable. make 30 bucks waiting in line at Dotties at 6th and Stevenson – https://www.taskrabbit.com/tenderloin-san-francisco/t/wait-in-line-at-dotties-for-us

And here’s Kari‘s ad at the Task Rabbit website:

“Please wait in line for us at Dottie’s starting at 10am. Text us when you are about 20 minutes from the front (5 or so people deep). “

(“Aren’t you a good task bunny! Here, have a little* cabbage.”)

Is this the so-called Mid-Market Renaissance?

Of course, this is how the “Renaissance” got started:

“Alvin Dworman, the owner of a Market Street building proposed as the new headquarters for Twitter, gave sharply discounted office space in the same building to former Mayor Gavin Newsom’s campaign for lieutenant governor — a political contribution valued at more than $11,000, campaign finance records show.

Weeks after the gift last fall, Newsom officials aided negotiations between Twitter and Dworman by offering the Internet company a payroll tax freeze as an incentive to move into Dworman’s building, a 1 million-square-foot art deco structure at 1355 Market St. once known as the San Francisco Mart.

*Actually, $30 seems generous to me…

Here’s How Willie Brown Lies About Having the Bay Bridge and Third Street and SFO Named After Him

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

Via the SFBayObserver comes the words of Willie Brown, actually coming through the new San Francisco Chronicle paywall

“Pardon me while I set the record straight: I had nothing to do, directly or indirectly, with the idea in the Legislature of naming the western span of the Bay Bridge after me. I don’t like the idea of my name being on things. I caught holy hell when Gavin Newsom said he wanted to name Third Street after me, and it never happened. They named a school after me, and it promptly closed.”

Well Willie, if you don’t like your name on things, then you shouldn’t pose for photos with signs graced with your name, right?

Here’s Willie. What’s he saying? Is it, “No no, I hate this?”

And here’s another shot:

So Willie, maybe you didn’t call people up and beg them to start the process of renaming the bridge span, but you certainly, at the very least, are indirectly responsible for pols trying to name things for you. They know how desperately you wanted to rename SFO as the Willie L. Brown Junior International Airport back in the 1990′s

And they know how much you love attention.

Oh Willie, will you ever win?

Street Chess in the Mid-Market: It’s Back, Baby! After a Few Lean Years, Market Street is Back Up to Ten Tables Sometimes

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

Frisco street chess hasn’t been this vibrant in years.

Things hadn’t been so hot since the Great Street Chess War of 2010, when the traditional location at Fifth and Market got eliminated. Get the deets here from Chris Roberts of the SF Weekly.

And even last year, you wouldn’t necessarily see that much activity.

But we’re in a more active era now, with a noticeable increase just the past few months.

Heh: Rincon Hill Blogger Jamie Whitaker Pwns RPD Director Phil Ginsburg Using Math – And He Shows His Work

Monday, May 13th, 2013

Comes now the passionate and brusque Jamie Whitaker of Rincon Hill to totally pwn Recreation and Park Department Director and UC Hastings grad and Gavin Newsom lackey Phil Ginsburg.

“One issue that I am hopeful someone will take up is the claim by the Recreation and Parks Department’s Director Phil Ginsburg that “We want as much open space as possible, but we also need to have a way to care for it.” That was his quote in reference to why the City’s Recreation and Parks Department is unwilling to accept the donation of the park built in front of the new Rincon Green Apartments at 333 Harrison Street. Read the article here (hopefully, the shared full article will appear: http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Creating-new-park-no-picnic-for-broke-city-4490422.php?t=27ec6d327d3f99889e

“This is a lie from Phil Ginsburg and it should infuriate everyone who lives in the Rincon neighborhood or nearby.  Why do I say it is a lie?”

Read the rest of this over at Rincon Hilla san francisco neighborhood blog.”

Hey, speaking of Gavin Newsom lackey Phil Ginsburg, a few years back he had a total boner for this nearby project at Justin Herman and yet NOBODY HAS EVER USED IT EXCEPT FOR OCCUPY SF FOR A FEW MONTHS.

Gavin Newsom lackey Phil Ginsburg must be aware, I mean he’s not stupid, that this bocce thing was/is a big fat waste, but he’s afraid to acknowledge this because then he’d have to get a job in the real world.

Oh well…
