Philosophical Question: Is the Golden Gate Park Panhandle a Part of Golden Gate Park?

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013

Short answer: Yes and no.

Long answer: Man, this is an oft-asked query on Google, so that’s why I’m making this post.*

Hey, is the Oklahoma Panhandle part of Oklahoma?

Hell to the yes, check it:

Ergo, the Golden Gate Park Panhandle is a part of Golden Gate Park.

(If you like, just do an image search for Golden Gate Park – look, the Panhandle is almost always right in there.)

Oh, but what if the panhandle part of OK seceded and called itself the State of Panhandle?

Mmmm…

Or what if RPD considers the Panhandle a park separate from GGP?

Yeah, that would factor in, but I don’t think the current admin of RPD has like, the power, man, you know, to cut up GGP like that.

Ergo, the Golden Gate Park Panhandle is a part of Golden Gate Park.

Fin.

BONUS: Why is most of the area just north of the GGPP not considered a part of North of Panhandle or NoPA? IDK, ask your realtor.

Fin fin.

*Attention all: A blog post is NOT a blog. A blog post is a post. A post is merely a part of a blog. A bunch of posts together make up a blog And actually, “blog” is a term that comes from “web log.” So to all you lawyers who email me threats from time to time, you look like dinosaurs when you order me to take down my blog when all you really want is for me to take down a particular blog post. Just saying.

“Silent Frisco” is Silent Disco – Grab Your Headphones and Dance – Even the NoPA NIMBYs Approve!

This was the scene over the weekend in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle.

See? Just look at those kids go!

But you couldn’t hear this party, cause people were dancing whilst listening to a DJ’s short-range broadcast.

It’s Silent Frisco, baby!

Now, do you remember the five-star rated Panhandle Bandshell from a half-decade ago? It was placed in the same basic place in the park until it got chased away by real estate interests and the horrible white, wizened, wealthy NIMBYs what still infest the Upper Haight / North of Panhandle areas.

Will area NIMBY’s now start complaining about Silent Frisco?

I don’t know, maybe they never even noticed.

Bon Courage, Silent Frisco!
