Seattle’s HOMEGROWN Sandwich Chain OPENING SOON at Troubled 222 Battery

Thursday, December 29th, 2016

That was the windup, now here’s the pitch.

They look almost ready to open at this star-crossed building what’s been shut down for years and years, IIRC.

Read all about it at Eater SF

(And the new bay area locations are not to be confused with HOMEGROWN OAKLAND?)

Oh, the Seattle location has surprisingly low Yelp rating, IMO.

Anyway, this was the scene yesterday with the future “Sandwich Partners” getting training inside:

Walruses, walruses everywhere down in the 94104.

It’s payback time:

The Perpetually Wet and Smelly Alley Behind the Michelin-Starred Michael Mina Restaurant Gets a Boost from This Fellow

Thursday, February 19th, 2015

Let’s call this place 50 Halleck, 94111.

This fellow took his full 21 seconds to wetten the ground in the Michael Mina delivery area, with an enviable flow and velocity, just whip it out in the middle of the street:

Hurray. Hurray for Halleck!

Feel free to travel from the front room at Michael Mina on California through the kitchen to its back door on Halleck, but do it slowly, else you’ll get the Bends

Better Know Your FiDi Highrises: “The California Building” at 350 Cal – Walruses Everywhere – Alaska Connection

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

What used to be at 350 California at Sansome was the 160 foot tall Alaska Commercial Building

But in 1979 it was replaced by the 325 foot tall, 23-story California Building (aka Bank of Tokyo Building and the Union Bank Building).

All that’s left of the Alaska connection are these walrus gargoyles.

See?

I am the walrus, no, I’m the walrus, all day long

Look for these friendly critters the next time you’re in the area.

He’s Ba-aaack: Infamous Pacific Heights Foreclosee John Lee Hudson – BONUS: Cheesy ACQUIRE Replicar

Monday, June 25th, 2012

Or maybe John Lee Hudson isn’t back but his car sure is, having been spotted in the Financh on Friday.

(Parked illegally, of course, with the four-way flashers flashing.)

As seen on Halleck Alley in the heart of the 94111 – note ogler taking a snap while gushing about this 100% fake 1928 Mercedes Benz SSK replicar:

Now, if I had gotten taken down by Jim Cox over at the Socketsite in this fashion, well, I’d have left town vowing to never come back.

But some people are shameless.

Even more shameless than Hollywood Foreclosure King Nicolas Cage, who used to own 1945 Franklin* before JLH et ux.

Anywho, this ride is not a “Refurbished 1936 Mercedes Excalibur,” just saying.

*I think he was the one who added the garages to the front – at least that’s what the nanny told me back in the day.

Restaurateur Michael Mina Grows His Own – Halleck Alley, Financial District, San Francisco, USA

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

The kitchen of Michael Mina has more lamps than a Sunset District grow house, it would seem.
