The Tour Buses of Alamo Square are Perfectly Fine

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

Like this one.

I suppose you could have heard the tour guide over the P.A. jabbering away, but the noise of the diesel engine was louder.

So no biggee, right?

So this isn’t actually kind of like the Wild, Wild West at all, right?

Oh, and NEWSFLASH, HOMEOWNERS: You actually live in the Western Addition. And actually, you’re not special.

Oh, and NEWSFLASH, HOMEOWNERS: The pols you consider friends actually don’t like dealing with you.

Oh, and NEWSFLASH, HOMEOWNERS: The white trash visitors you despise are happy people, generally. The white trash visitors you despise are BETTER THAN YOU, believe it or not.

So dry your tears and try to carry on.

Attention Pedestrians: MUNI Wants to Nag You About Not Running Into Their Buses – New Video – (Oh, BTW, MUNI Sucks!)

Friday, July 13th, 2012

Hey, remember when that woman who was doing nothing at all wrong got killed by that MUNI bus driver last year and the driver said that the woman who was doing nothing at all wrong had not been paying attention?*

Like this:

“Loggins’ attorney, Stuart Hanlon, told reporters last month that Dunn had also not been paying attention before the accident; apparently she had her head down and was texting while crossing the street, he said.

Well the SFMTAMUNIDPT, that outfit that mismanages MUNI and hands out parking tickets, doesn’t remember.

Apparently.

Apparently, when MUNI drivers and operators kill people, it’s the fault of the peds themselves, all of them, apparently, and especially those in the the Asian-American-businesswomen-walking-about-whilst-wearing-ginormous-Sony-STUDIO- MONITOR-headphones-demographic.

Check it:

“Do you want Beethoven to be the last thing you hear?”

Wow, so verite, non?

By the way:

“Comments are disabled for this video.”

I wonder why.

*Gentle Reader, peds have no obligation to pay attention. None. Zero. Peds need to use crosswalks and not start too soon or too late and not go too fast or too slow and, at uncontrolled intersections, they need to yield to traffic already using the intersection, but they can otherwise do pretty much whatever they want and STILL NOT BE HELD AT FAULT FOR THEIR DEATHS. Emily Dunn made it most of the way across the intersection – that’s proof that the MUNI driver was 100% at fault in this case.

“Silent Frisco” is Silent Disco – Grab Your Headphones and Dance – Even the NoPA NIMBYs Approve!

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

This was the scene over the weekend in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle.

See? Just look at those kids go!

But you couldn’t hear this party, cause people were dancing whilst listening to a DJ’s short-range broadcast.

It’s Silent Frisco, baby!

Now, do you remember the five-star rated Panhandle Bandshell from a half-decade ago? It was placed in the same basic place in the park until it got chased away by real estate interests and the horrible white, wizened, wealthy NIMBYs what still infest the Upper Haight / North of Panhandle areas.

Will area NIMBY’s now start complaining about Silent Frisco?

I don’t know, maybe they never even noticed.

Bon Courage, Silent Frisco!

“Silent Frisco makes your “scene” not heard, preserving the right for artists express themselves in public settings where “noise” has previously made such activities impractical or illegal. Through the use of custom “silent” wireless headphone technology, Silent Frisco produces unique music experiences, where live artists rock the house without waking the neighbors!

WE OWN TWO THOUSAND 2-CHANNEL, FESTIVAL-OPTIMIZED WIRELESS HEADPHONES. Custom-designed and built from scratch, Silent Frisco headsets operate TWO simultaneous independent radio channel feeds, while providing the best in audio clarity, volume, and comfort.

Developed in the 1980s, ‘Silent Disco’ concept made it’s U.S. debut at the 2005 Bonnaroo Festival, where resident Dj and Silent Frisco founder Robbie “MoPo” Kowal (pictured) introduced the user-friendly technology to ecstatic audiences seeking additional late night programming. Since then, Kowal, and Silent Frisco team have been pushing this unique concept at dozens of major U.S. music and arts festivals.”

Shoplifter at the Union Square Apple Store – A Sidewalk Scrum for iPhone – Bad Security Guards on Video

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

I don’t know how long you’ll be able to watch this one – all the action is in the first part and then it just goes on and on. (“Aagh, I can’t breathe!” “Get off of him!” ”Aagh, I can’t breathe!” “Get off of him!”)

Not sure if the shoplifter had an actual iPhone. Seems as if he had, at the very least, some kind product endorsed by Dr. Dre, anyway:

Beats Studio by Dr. Dre – Hi-Def Noise-Canceling Over-Ear Headphones

And, indeed, those can retail for up to $350, so one of the security guards got that part right. As far as everything else though, there’s just too much to inventory – this is like a video on how not to detain a shoplifter. (Should you let go of the perp temporarily to show off the booty to sway the crowd? Probably not. I could go on, but, as always, You Make The Call.)

It ended up requiring the attention of both the SFPD and the SFFD. (I wonder if there’s an official report or two on this incident.)

Anyway, I’m surprised this one didn’t go viral:

Let’s Be Careful Out There…

The Scene That Develops After a Routine Taxi-Versus-Cyclist Collision, as Seen at Market and 1st Street

Friday, September 9th, 2011

This went on for a while during yesterday’s evening drive.

Dude with the white earbuds ended up quite a distance from his Masi bike after he collided with a Yellow Taxi – it was like 15 feet away from him, so I couldn’t tell that he was a cyclist when I first saw him down on the ground in the middle of the intersection:

First he was standing, but then the crowd made him sit.

Anyway, there were lots of people on hand to help out, FWIW.

This is typical of passersby in San Francisco – they generally are willing to stop and offer assistance in these types of situations, just saying…
