San Francisco Bicycle Coalition’s Family Day a Huge Success

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

The SFBC’s Second Annual Family Day was well-attended this past (Healthy) Saturday in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Check out a bunch of photos from the day at the Flickr from the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

People enjoyed a bicycle road-eo, games, a safety clinic, a scavenger hunt, a parade and some free bike maintenance.

But best of all, some children gained their Freedom From Training Wheels. (Four wheels bad, two wheels good, right kids?)

“Healthy Saturdays” Returns - No Cars in Part of Golden Gate Park

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Yesterday marked the start of the second season of car-free Saturdays in Golden Gate park. It’s just a small part of JFK Drive - compare the difference with car-free Sundays.

Most drivers heading west aren’t allowed to turn left, so it looks like a U-turn is the only option.

The underused “Accessible Tram” and the quasi-ban on deliveries to the nearby deYoung museum are both results of le Grand compromis de 2007, which sets in stone the rules for Healthy Saturdays for the next five years at least.

Happy cycling.
