Well, here it is a pithy two-minute video showing area Church of Scientology President Jeff Quiros leaving his historic building at the foot of Columbus.
(The reference to “SF Weekly” has to do with Lauren Smiley’s recent five-part “Scientology Apostate” series.)
I didn’t realize that Anonymous was still on the case like this.
Here’s what it looked like back in aught-eight when Church leaders walked over to the Chinatown Hilton to celebrate L. Ron Hubbard’s birth anniversary:

But it’s not too late to get in on the fun – if you want to try to make money from religion, why don’t you apply?

“These are two spellings of the same word, which means to seek information about something or to conduct a formal investigation (usually when followed by “into”). Now, it’s not my job to get you a job, but MUNI is pretty much always looking for new drivers.
Correct me if I’m wrong but starting salary is higher than what BART pays their somewhat shooty, “newby” officers, so there you go.
This driver didn’t seem to know what he was doing, so I’m forced to assume he’s a recent hire.
As seen yesterday on Market:

Anyway, even if you have an education, this could be for you. Maybe just for a while, until the Great Recession ends?

Well, I’ll answer my own question here and say the reason is that you already have or aspire to have a job what pays more, or is more satisfying or whatever, but if you’re currently making minimum wage or if you’re unemployed…
Now, you don’t have a have an absolutely clean DMV for the past ten years (I’m sure, IRL), but there are other requirements (see below) that you’d have to work on, that might take a while so maybe this is not for you anyway.
Fine, but what you shouldn’t do is to rail against the machine, rail against, I dont know, all the MUNI drivers in town who make more, who have six-figure compensation packages practically burned into the City Charter:
“I work longer and harder than any MUNI driver out there; and yet I make close to minimum wage. WHERE’S MY PATH TO MIDDLE CLASS, you fuckers?”
The solution is to apply to become a MUNI driver yourself, silly billy. (Or BART driver, whichever.) They might not be hiring right now right now, but I’ve see training coaches all over the place this year so it’s not like it’s impossible to get a job at MUNI.
So what I’m I saying? Work on getting a driving job at MUNI, that’s what I’m saying…
Anyway, I saw this private sector ad a while back, but what they’re offering these days is the same basic deal. Maybe this kind of gig could help you get a MUNI job?

The news of the day:
“Today I am announcing great addition to #teambevan. Welcome Alex Tourk. Read all about it http://t.co/RAMTdwl #sfmayor“
(Does former Supervisor Bevan Dufty have a monstrously large team to run for Mayor in 2011? Sure seems that way. See below.)
Anyway, here’s how Alex Tourk will be added into the mix:
“Hiring Alex Tourk to run my campaign day-to-day in the final piece of the puzzle,” said Dufty. “I first worked with Alex Tourk in 1999 when we were both in neighborhood services for Mayor Brown. He is a veteran of many hard-fought, successful campaigns in San Francisco. I am thrilled to have his leadership, experience and talent managing my campaign.”
Bevan at the Market Street HQ:

All the deets:
“Dufty Announces Campaign Team
The Bevan Dufty for Mayor campaign announced its campaign team today. “We have assembled a strong and experienced team,” said Dufty for Mayor Communications Director Roby Chavez. “The expertise they bring in terms of strategy, message, creativity and boots on the ground – combined with the experience and campaign skills of our candidate Bevan Dufty – are going to give us a huge boost in this nontraditional election.”
The Dufty campaign is being led by San Francisco-based general consultant Michael Terris of Terris, Barnes & Walters who took over the reigns in February. TBW has run campaigns in San Francisco campaigns going back to 1988, including Mayor Willie Brown’s 1999 re-elect, Assemblywoman Fiona Ma’s election in 2006, and the Yes on G/ No on F campaign to revitalize the Hunter’s Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point in 2008 and Roberta Achtenberg’s 1995 Mayoral Campaign.
The assembled Dufty for Mayor campaign team includes:
Alex Tourk’s firm Ground Floor, one of California’s leading campaign management and public affairs firms. Ground Floor has worked for Mayor Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Jackie Speier, and Assemblyman Rich Gordon. Ground Floor has joined the team to run the campaign on a day-to-day basis and oversee the field operation.
David Binder of David Binder Research, one of the nation’s pre-eminent pollsters, has been helping candidates and causes in San Francisco and around the country for the last 27 years. His clients include President Obama, Senator Mark Leno and the California Democratic Party.
Joyce Newstat of Rocket Science Associates, a leading expert in finance, campaign fundraising, and public policy – particularly for LGBT candidates. Joyce is handling national fundraising. Joyce has worked in San Francisco politics since the late eighties including running Roberta Achtenberg’s campaign for Mayor in 1995 and serving as Mayor Newsom’s Policy Director.
Jill McCarthy brings nearly 10 years of national fundraising experience to the Dufty Campaign. She worked for the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy until he passed away, and prior to that, Senator Charles Schumer (NY) at Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Bob Graham (FL) and various other Democratic candidates. She is serving as the Finance Consultant overseeing the fundraising operation that has raised over $1 million to date.·
Mark Putnam of Putnam Partners, one of the premier Democratic media firms in the country. Putnam’s clients include President Obama (including writing and producing the half-hour television special that aired on seven networks in the final days of the 2008 campaign), Attorney General Kamala Harris, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, and newly elected Denver Mayor Michael Hancock (who made it through a 10 candidate primary), among many others.
Ken Strasma of Strategic Telemetry, the country’s foremost experts in microtargeting for campaigns. Strategic Telemetry’s pioneering methodology helped the Obama Campaign secure an upset victory in the Iowa caucuses in 2008 and led the way to the nomination and election.
Matt Erickson of 76 Words, an expert in campaign media and communications will produce video and online content. Matt spent over 10 years with Laguens/ Klose/Kully, one of the nations leading Democratic television firms before hanging up his own shingle with partner Sarah Flowers in 2011.
“I am very proud of this team,” said mayoral candidate Bevan Dufty. “We have the collective leadership, talent, experience, and creativity to match any campaign in the country.”
The Dufty campaign continues to grow. Team Bevan has raised and matched over $1 million and is reaching voters every day by phone, mail and on their doorstep.”

I don’t know, CVS Pharmacy. I think you all have been talking to NIMBYs too much when your PR people start bandying about recently-invented terms like “nuisance alcohol.”
Here’s what I mean – let’s review the plans for the former Fog Belt North Albertsons, that brokedown palace out there at 32nd and Clement, the place that will soon be a combo CVS / Fresh & Easy gro sto, per the always-reliable Richmond District Blog:
“CVS will not pursue permission to sell hard liquor at this location. CVS will pursue permission to sell beer and wine only. Per CVS company-wide policy, CVS does not sell malt liquor, singles or other nuisance alcohol.“
“Nuisance alcohol?” Is this your phrase now?

Click to be smooth, baby
Hey, you know what kind of people are maybe more than a nuisance? How about white people who live out in the Avenues but go downtown to drop $400 on wine and dinner and then head home via the Western Addition?
Can wine be a “nuisance alcohol” too, CVS?
P.S. The NIMBY groups you’ve been talking to only represent themselves. What about the 99% of Richmond District people who don’t belong to any NIMBYhood association? What do they think?

Hey, can you see yourself out there in the Middle / Outer Richmond District area working for the coming Fresh & Easy gro sto at 32nd and Clement, you know, where the Albertson’s used to be?
Well, if you do, then look forward to making just $10 per hour - that’s well south of what the In & Out Burger pays and just 8 cents per hour north of our minimum wage.
Oh well.

Well, here’s the news of the day – San Francisco-based Yelp, Inc., San Francisco’s social networking, user review, and local search web site, will be soon be hiring 200 plus folks at a huge, brand-new office in Scottsdale, AZ.
Interested Arizonians (or just anybody, I s’pose) should regularly monitor Yelp.com/jobs to get in on the action before the madding crowd. Read all the deets below, if you want to hear the Arizona Department of Commerce and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council crowing over their win.
Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane just drank our milkshake, all the way from the 480. Drank it up! Why? It must have something to do with the Bay Area lacking a “strong infrastructure and an educated talent pool of potential employees.” Read CEO Jeremy Stoppelman’s full quote below. And while you’re at it, feel free to read between the lines. Granted, Yelpers in San Francisco will soon have a little more elbow room, but it’s difficult to see today’s news as something other than a big dis to SF and the bay area.
Let’s remember the good times, back in aught-five when most Yelpers worked in town. Via Yelp.com:

Yelp to Open Office in Scottsdale. San Francisco-Based Technology Company Plans To Hire More Than 200 Locally This Year
Yelp, the community-led local search site, today announced it is opening an office in Scottsdale, Arizona, as it increases hiring to support the company’s U.S. and international expansion.
The San Francisco-based technology company plans to hire more than 200 people this year for the office, which will be located in the Scottsdale Corporate Galleria, and is looking to fill positions across numerous departments, in particular sales and account management.
Yelp, which connects consumers with great local businesses through user-written reviews and ratings on its site, has seen rapid growth in recent years. More than 29 million people used the site last month and review content has doubled in the last year to more than 9 million. Started in San Francisco in 2004, Yelp is available throughout the U.S. and Canada, and expanded to the U.K. and Ireland last year.
“Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area have a vibrant and growing Yelp community,” said Jeremy Stoppelman, CEO and co-founder of Yelp. “The region is also a great place to locate a technology business, having a strong infrastructure and an educated talent pool of potential employees. We are excited to make Scottsdale home to our third Yelp office and the hundreds of future Yelp employees who will live, work and play in this great area.”
Don’t stop now, ever more, after the jump

San Francisco District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi gave a stem-winder to a crowd of 100 or in the Civic Center on the steps of City Hall yesterday. Why? Because he wants local hiring for the Doyle Drive replacement project (you know, the one with all that President Barack Obama / Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi federal stimulus money) up in the Presidio.

Here are some deets:
Resolution Urges Local Hiring for the Doyle Drive Replacement Project
On Tuesday, September 15th, the Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution authored by Supervisor Mirkarimi that urges Caltrans and its contractors and subcontractors working on the retrofit of Doyle Drive to hire from local workers, and in particular, workers from our economically disadvantaged communities. Federal stimulus funds will be used to replace the Doyle Drive approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Supervisor Mirkarimi has worked hard to strengthen local hiring requirements for City contractors. However, the Doyle Drive replacement project is managed by Caltrans, who is not bound by city policies regarding Workforce development. The non-binding resolution requests that Caltrans and its contractors and subcontractors actively participate in San Francisco’s Workforce Development Programs when pursuing projects within San Francisco.
A rally and press conference will be held at noon, Tuesday, September 15th to raise awareness on the issue and highlight the successes of the City’s workforce development programs.
