Pity poor Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger – tonight he crashed the annual San Francisco Democratic Party Fundraising Gala and Auction at the Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill and he was rewarded with a loud round of booing.
Poor guy. Did Assemblymember Tom Ammiano spontaneously yell, “You lie” at Arnold, ala Congressman Joe Wilson? Haha!

The evening captured via Francis Tsang’s BlackBerry

Via SF FYI Net, we discover San Francisco Deputy City Attorney Scott Wiener (the preferred spelling of “weiner” is w-I-E-n-e-r, as in “Vienna“) just officially announced his candidacy today for District 8 Supervisor on the YouTube.
It looked a little like this, complete with elevator dings – listen for them:

Scott joins Rafael Mandelman, Laura Spanjian and Rebecca Prozan as the putative frontrunners in the replace-Bevan Dufty-race, which is just a “short” 16 months away.
PRINCIPAL SKINNER: Whoever did this is in very deep trouble.
MARTIN: And a sloppy speller, too! The preferred spelling of “weiner” is w-I-E-n-e-r, though E-I is an acceptable ethnic variant.
PRINCIPAL SKINNER: Good point.

The Harvey Milk Recreational Arts Building at 50 Scott Street in Duboce Park had quite the grand opening kickoff yesterday morning. Read all about it at Linda Post’s SF FYI.NET.
“City Parks general manager Jared Blumenfeld thought the late supervisor Harvey Milk would be very proud of the voter-approved two-year project. ‘It’s got recording studios, it’s got darkrooms. Just beautiful, light spaces, community rooms,’ Blumenfeld said. ‘It’s really architecturally stunning.’”
“The American Dream starts with the neighborhoods” - as recorded by Laura Spanjian, Assistant General Manager for External Affairs for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)

San Francisco District 8 Supervisor Bevan Dufty, Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services liaison to District 8 Alex Randolph, and Jared Blumenfeld

Milk speechwriter Frank Robinson:

Now that the ribbon’s been cut, let’s take a look inside:

That’ll do.
See you there!
