There are at Least Two Things Wrong with This “Member CHP 11-99 Foundation” License Plate and Holder

Tuesday, March 4th, 2014

1. A while back there was a perception, at the very least, of the California Highway Patrol involving itself with corruption when luxury car owners boasted of getting out of speeding tickets owing them being members of the 11-99 Foundation. So reforms were promised, but there still are a lot of those official 11-99 foundation license plate holders out there, oh well. Anyway, it was “wrong” for the CHP to allow this foundation any color of authoritah for any length of time

2. The owner of this car doesn’t even have an official license plate holder, oh no. All we have here is a home-made LP holder along with a personalized license plate. Anybody could do this without paying thousands of dollars to any foundation. So this looks a bit wrong as well.

Or maybe the original license plate holder was stolen for quick resale on eBay, IDK.

Regardless, this whole enchilada was/is wrong

280 Tableau: America’s Own Version of the Autobahn, San Mateo County – Luxury Cars Famous for Fires

Thursday, December 5th, 2013

Ah yes, the 280. Spacious, fast and full of luxury cars.

To wit:

Ah yes, the famous Tesla Model S. Let’s compare it’s on-the-road-caught-on-fire rate with, I don’t know, that of the well-designed, all-electric Nissan Leaf and maybe, I don’t know, the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt. Oh wait a sec, Nissan Leaves and Chevy Voltses NEVER CATCH ON FIRE.* Well gee, why is that, Elon Musk? What’s wrong with your cars and/or your customers?

And the jelly-bean Lexus RX / Toyota Harrier. I suppose this “Tall Camry” / “Tall Lexus ES” is a luxury car. It doesn’t catch on fire, all that much.

And the Mercedes Benz GL. It does catch on fire. Sometimes. And for no good reason.

Taken via Google Glass** from my Toyota, which was paid off twelve years ago, and which is 40% of the way through its working life.

*And these are more established cars with more time and more passenger miles on the road than the Model S

**Or not!

New “iCars” On-Demand Car Service? Looks Like It’s From That Horrible Bauer’s Limo / Bauer’s “Intelligent” Transportation

Friday, December 28th, 2012

Well here’s something new – it’s “iCars” from that horrible Bauer company.

See?

That was the wind-up, now here’s the pitch:

“ iCars® service is a network of luxury cars, SUV’s and Mercedes Sprinter vans in San Francisco. This network is accessed through a sophisticated mobile application that allows riders to book and pay for on-demand, private and eco-Iuxury transportation service.

iCars® is managed by Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation, leveraging its transportation expertise and quality standards to ensure responsive, safe and superior transportation. iCars® service combines one of the best high-end transportation companies in the USA with the latest mobile technology to improve the ease and experience of on-demand transportation.
What is it? Luxury car service ordered “in the moment” for 1 to 12 passengers—in and around San Francisco, to SFO (San Francisco International Airport)

How to book? Through your smart phone—Apps available for iPhone and Android phones—reserve and pay online”

Hey Gary Bauer! Doesn’t your company(ies) kind of suck?

I think so!

I say that because your Yelp ratings are pretty low even including all those five-star shill reviews. Check it:

Bauer’s Limousine

Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation

What good does social media branding do if your service sucks?

And hey, speaking of Bauer’s social media branding and purported blogger Zennie62 / Zennie Abraham, what’s up with this?

“Note: Bauer’s Transportation is a Zennie62.com sponsor”

Is this arrangement still going on now? I don’t know.

It’s mighty interesting tho.

IMO.

Hey Gary Bauer! Isn’t a Sprinter van mostly a delivery vehicle? I think so. Do you really consider it a “luxury” vehicle?

Hey Gary Bauer! Why don’t you raise your rates so that you can improve your services so that your customers could be a little happier?

Just asking.

Bro-ham.

Why Has California’s Handicapped Placard System Turned Into a Free Parking Subsidy for the One Percent?

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

Two luxury cars, two handicapped placards, yet again:

Why is it that most Mercedes Benzeses you see parked on the street in the Financial District, you know, the 94111 and the 94104, have handicap placards hanging from the rear view?

Could it be that California’s handicapped placard system is being abused by wealthy bay area drivers who feel that parking should be cheaper and easier for them?

Yep.

Are you kind of a sucker for NOT having a handicapped placard considering that you could easily ask your doctor to sign the form for the DMV?

Yep.

OMG, Lexus “Laws of Attraction” at City View Metreon – SF’s Party of the Year – World Premier of New LS 460 F Sport

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Now why did Lexus choose San Francisco, of all the cities of the world, as the place to debut its “Laws of Attraction” exhibit and to unveil it’s brand-new LS 460 F Sport model?

I don’t know, I guess we’re special.

Hey, look who was there, high atop the Metreon at City View:

It’s  the Stars of the Lexus Laws of Attraction Photo Exhibit as they pose with the 2013 Lexus LS: (left to right) Jonathan Adler, Simon Doonan, Devon Aoki, James Bailey, Jaime King, Kyle Newman, Brady Cunningham and Jason Schwartzman.

Man, this Monday night party was off the hook – I was transformed from an overweight Dell Jockey into an overweight Dell Jockey at the City View:

Oh, and what’s this just outside but four stories up, a Lexus supercar, the likes of which I’ve only seen once before? How did they get this halo vehicle to the roof of the Metreon? Crane, chopper, ramps, giant elevator? It’s a mystery:

(You can’t just buy one of these, Lexus has to invite you to buy this $400,000 car. There’s just 500 in the world, that’s it.)

The place was packed, hundreds and hundreds of party-goers were up there:

Oh, here we go, the moment of unveiling:

Do people take iPads to parties to take photos these days? People do:

See the photos behind the car? That was the point of this shindig, deets below:

A good time was had by all, all the dolled-up gals from the east and south bay and all the older dudes from Marin…

If you ever get invited to a free party hosted by Lexus, jump at the chance, is all I can say.

Get all the deets, see all the art photos of the couples, see the new, sportier Lexus, see the new “spindle” grill, see the less-luxurious, performance-oriented SPORT F sedan, see it all, right here and/or after the jump.

Breaking the Code: Blue Handicap Placards are for Luxury Cars and Red Handicap Placards are for Regular Cars

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

See? The brand-new Mercedes Benz and the Lexus have blue placards but the Honda has to make do with just a red placard.

Financial District, San Francisco:

Why is it that every brand new Mercedes parked in San Francisco’s Financial District has a blue handicap placard hanging from the rear view? Are these things like a no-cost option or something?

The fact that no California physician has ever been disciplined in the slightest for improperly signing the DMV form in the history of the state puts a lot of pressure on area doctors. Everybody knows that they won’t get caught. It’s like all the doctor needs to do is write down his or her name once and that will earn said doctor a fan for life.

A long healthy life.

In a new Mercedes Benz.

With an improperly-gotten handicap placard.

Hurray! Free parking. For life!

And when those downtown core congestion charges come, then free driving. For life!

Non-Intuitive Parking Assist: Why Is It That Most of the Handicapped Motorists in SF Drive Luxury Cars and Park for Free?

Friday, April 6th, 2012

Maybe the perfect option for your luxury car is a handicapped placard?

Your license plate says that you’re an SF Resident, so of course a placard hanging from the rear-view:

Think about it – which is the better option? Something like Intuitive Parking Assist, which will park your car for you only after you’ve found a space, or a placard, which will allow you to park wherever you want all day for free?

I’d prefer the placard.

You’re on the honor system with this one. If you feel as if you deserve to park wherever you want for free all day long, then you’ll be able to get one.

It’s not hard.
