[Welcome fans of the "Breakthrough Energy Examiner" Sterling Allan, who, of course, veered "off topic" just a skosh, huh? (Unless It All Ties Together, Somehow.) He's got to be careful, else he'll step on the toes of the 9/11 Truth Examiner (if there is a such a person yet), right? Oh well, I don't have an "open mind" on controlled demolition. Sorry.]
Well it’s getting close to Springtime, so leave us welcome back Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, who chose San Francisco as the place to launch their Late Winter Offensive, 2010. (Offensive? Is there anything that you could consider offensive, anything that might insult your intelligence coming from this crew? As Always, You Make The Call.)
The 11th floor of our highly-rated Marines Memorial Club & Hotel at 609 Sutter was packed this AM - could have been a couple hundred, maybe. But not a one MSM news vehicle was on the scene, AFAICS, to celebrate the news of the 1000-member-milestone being surpassed. Irregardless, this was a big deal for the A’s and the E’s – they had simultaneous news conferences going on all over the place.
Let’s see here, they didn’t like getting mocked by Glenn Beck recently*, and they think that their professional licenses are “at risk.” Really? (Has any Truther lost his or her license because of Truther status? Not that I’m aware of.) And, oh yes, they say they’re not conspiracy theorists**, so apparently just one person set all those explosives on all those floors of all those buildings.
Anyway, have at it, Building 7, controlled demolition, sheeple, banksters, etc. below. Enjoy.
[UPDATE: Is it surprising that 1000 architects, engineers, butchers or bakers can form a Thruther club? Not to me. Would it be fair to say that the average architect and or engineer isn't a Truther? You people are just like the JFK conspiracy theorists, right? On another note, aside from a 20,000-reader-weekly in Joisey, did any of these AE911 press conferences on 2-19-2010 get any press coverage, MSM or not-so-MSM, from anywhere in the world? And actually, didn't this movement peak with the Loose Change boom back around 2006?]
Richard Gage, AIA:

Your Marines Memorial, 11th floor. Last time I was here, it was a Junior League of San Francisco joint (speaking of highly-rated) - 100+ earnest post-collegiate babes wearing sweaters (and buying purses, for some reason). Today, it’s Truthers and only Truthers.

Corporate Bankster Oligarchy, the Mossad, it all fits together.

All the deets, after the jump.
*That’s the best I can do for you, I didn’t register(?) to listen in. I’ve heard of him but I don’t know who Glenn Beck is. Oh here you go – this is a big deal for some Texas election.
**Of course there was a conspiracy, involving at least 19, right?

Remember back in the day, back when Bay Areans could espy the straight-outta-Redwood-City $200-million Sea Shadow stealth ship bobbing about in San Francisco Bay? Check this video from down Fun Diego way over at Telstar Logistics to see this baby in action.
Say it aloud: Super-Secret Sea Shadow Stealth Ship, Super-Secret Sea Shadow Stealth Ship, Super-Secret Sea Shadow Stealth Ship! This project was so secret that it didn’t make the Bay Area newspapers, excepting for 1999 when this boat was identified as an airplane three times by the San Francisco Examiner.*
This is what she looked like, coming out in the daytime when she was no longer so very supr sekrt:

Guess what, the U.S. Navy wants to give her away for free! The problem is that there are no takers as of yet, so the ex Sea Shadow just sits around in the mothballed Ghost Fleet of the East Bay. Check out these recent photos from Amy Heiden. Pretty boss, huh?
Now the first time the Navy tried to give away this historic boat, in 2006, they had all sorts of rules. Then they tried again in 2009 with more flexible rules. But the problem is that you can’t just take the Shadow, you also have to take the Hughes Mining Barge (HMB-1), a floating drydock boat that was developed as part of Project Jennifer. (That was the semi-successful, top-secret effort mounted by the Central Intelligence Agency to salvage the remains of the Soviet submarine K-129 from the ocean floor.)
Here’s a shot of them together, ignore the two conventional warships in the background:
But wait, there’s more. Here’s how the Sea Shadow is laid out on the inside:

The bridge of Grant Imahara’s future evil lair. (Boy, talk about a glass cockpit, huh?)

And here’s how she looks from the outside:

You want. Why don’t you start up a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and take these things off of the Navy’s hands? Otherwise an important piece of Bay Area military history (and film history what with it inspiring the bad guys’ floating lair in Tomorrow Never Dies) is a gonna get scrapped.
Here’s what came next, after the Shadow got mothballed – it’s the all-aluminum Sea Fighter, as seen back in 2006:

via Telstar Logistics
The point being is that the aging Sea Shadow is the ur-ship, the JetFire of the stealth boat world. Won’t you save her?
O.K., first things first. Check out the owner’s manuals and start writing your business plan. (And, oh yes, while you’re at it, scrape up some cash. Lots and lots and lots o’ cash.)
Happy sailing!
The Navy’s announcement, after the jump.
*From 1999: “The combined Navy-Marine exercise included overflights of the Bay Area by the Sea Shadow, the Navy equivalent of the stealth bomber.” No, this thing can’t fly, it just floats. Veteran SF Chronicle writer Henry K. Lee got that right but others did not. Nevertheless, SFGate.com, San Francisco’s online newspaper, remains an invaluable resource.

Does that headline make enough sense? It means that if you are a member of the military (yes, including even the touchy touchy Coast Guard), or a firefighter, or a peace officer, or a teacher, then you can get into San Francisco’s awesome California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park for free over the next month-and-a half:
“From February 1 through March 15, 2010, the Academy will offer free admission to military personnel, firefighters, police officers, and teachers, in honor of their service to our communities and country. To participate, individuals must show proof of occupation and a valid ID at the ticket window. This discount applies to one individual admission only and cannot be combined with other offers.”

Just think, your camera could soon be recording the most-photographed fish in the world:

This temporary program will save you $24.99.
See you there, hero.

You know how to read, right? So have at it – I just found a nice link for you that I couldn’t find last month. Hai, doozo:
Attitudes of Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans toward Gay and Lesbian Service Members
So, the “unit-cohesion” rationale, the concern about risking ”the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability” and all the underlying foundation of Bill Clinton’s antediluvian, pre-Lewinsky Policy Concerning Homosexuality in the Armed Forces is out the window due to changing attitudes over the past couple of decades.

Or if all that .pdf is too much, here’s the elevator pitch.
(President Barack Obama will end the policy, someday, maybe.)

The San Francisco Chronicle has great shots of the Blue Angels, as per usual. What was unusual this year was lots of fog on Saturday and Sunday. But Friday was nicer.
Let’s take a look.
Propeller tip contrails from the U.S. Marines’ Fat Albert C-130, El Heraldo de Angeles, the Harbinger of Angels:

Sometimes the pilots look the same direction…

…and sometimes not, as explained by Lt. Mark Swinger on SFist.

The pelicans didn’t seem to mind…

…all the commotion:

Loud, loud, loud:

It was not foggy, but a bit humid on Friday practice, as these ghostly forms attest:

This one must have busted a gasket or something, the left cylinder bank looks to have a leak anyway.

See you next year!

October has arrived, so it’s time for another Fleet Week in San Francisco. What’s Fleet Week?
Fleet Week is a United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard tradition in which active military ships recently deployed in overseas operations dock in a variety of major cities for one week. Once the ships dock, the crews can enter the city and visit its tourist attractions. At certain hours, the public can take a guided tour of the ships. Often, Fleet Week is accompanied by military demonstrations and airshows such as provided by the Blue Angels.
O.K. then. See some photos of Fleet Weeks past and also this weekend’s schedule below.

Whenever I’ve visited the Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel in Union Square at 609 Sutter Street, I’ve pretty much only seen gaggles of besweatered Junior Leaguers or suited-up bidnessmen having some event upstairs.
So I forgot about the Marines’ Memorial Association’s main function: letting active duty personnel stay in a nice hotel in Union Square for dirt cheap.
One of the many ways Marines’ Memorial Association supports our troops is by providing complimentary membership to all Currently Serving members of the US Armed Forces who apply in person at the club. In addition, our currently serving member leisure rates are $69 Sunday through Thursday and $89 on Friday and Saturday. Based on availability .
Currently Serving members of all branches of the US Armed Forces , guard and reserve are encouraged to participate in this program by contacting our membership and hotel reservation departments at 1-800-562-7463.

This is what our small version of the the Marine Corps War Memorial looks like from Interstate 80 in Tormey, Contra Costa County.
“Vince Ramos of Crockett guesses he has captured the essence of what someone gazing at Mount Suribachi on the Pacific island of Iwo Jima on Feb. 23, 1945, would have seen. The tall hill in Tormey, west of Interstate 80 and just north of the Cummings Skyway, is home to Ramos’ replica of the celebrated flag-raising. The statue is a tribute to his late brother, Fernando, a U.S. Marine who served on Iwo Jima, the site of one of World War II’s bloodiest battles.”

You might notice it if you look up from the freeway near the Carquinez Bridge.

Oh, it’s on!
Witches, Crones, Sirens come to the Marine Recruiting Station [on May 9, 2008] to cast spells, weave magic, invoke the foremothers, share wisdom, lead rituals to bring peace to the MRS, to protect our youth from the powerful spells of pro-war forces, to lead the men of the marine recruiting station off into the oceans of peace!
Some witches, crones and sirens are willing to risk arrest, others are not. We call on all crones, witches and sirens to come to the MRS, to bring your energy, your wisdom, your fierce determination to end war now and bring peace to our world.
What’s that? You can’t make the scene? Well then just watch it all live online courtesy of Fox News Channel on the 24/7 FoxNews Berkeley Protest Cam.
In fact, why don’t you check it out right now and see if Code Pink’s gatherings in front of the recruiting station really are as “ill-attended” as Fox says.
