Remember this guy from a little while back, this Stephen Fowler asshole?
Here’s the notorious video. (Man that planning commish hearing about a certain place in Noe Valley just went on and on, huh? And hey, I wonder who ratted out that long-time Asian American dude* who lost his rental in NV owing to the lack of an Occupancy Permit? Mmmm… Anyway, Mr. Fowler is still reviled in Noe Valley.)
And before that, there was this one. Whew, good times.
And now there’s this, a new allegation that Stephen Fowler had something to do with these Marin County trees getting hacked (to death?) up in Mill Valley.

As always, We Report, You Decide.
I mean, maybe this tale is completely made up, you know, the way people would make up stories about Mussolini having a devil’s tail, you know, sometimes people decide to not like you and then they’ll just start making stuff up.
Here they are, the allegations:
“Just wanted to pass along another example of Wife-Swapping Stephen Fowler’s example of hypocrisy. He purchased a home this spring in Mill Valley, 317 Hillside for $800,000, tore it down and is now building a 3.5 million $$ spec house to flip. When the bank foreclosed on his neighbor at 300 Hillside across the street this spring, Stephen approached the owner, a general contractor at the time, a few days before the bank took the house away and paid the home owner to have a few of his employees illegally climb 10 Heritage Redwood trees, cut 20-30 feet off the tops of them thus freeing up the view of San Francisco for Stephens new house project. For a self proclaimed tree hugger, he has balls. See the photo’s of just a few of the trees…”
Now, didn’t S. Fowler go on the TV to promote environmental awareness? I think so.
And didn’t he have all these kinds of shirts on – who made them, one wonders. Who forced poor Mr. Fowler into doing things he didn’t want to and saying things he didn’t want to say?

Anyway, somebody up Marin way might want to look into these tree allegations.
But remember, S Fowler makes more in one week than you do in one year!
*Robert Hanamura – whatever happened to that guy?

Dirty Harry at 40 continues with the case of the pool atop our Financial District / Chinatown Hilton.
Now check it – everybody’s favorite psycho killer hippie Scorpio somehow got on the roof of famously-sawtoothed* 555 California, you know, in order to start the carnage. See?

Now wouldn’t it be cool to go swimming up there on a dreaded sunny day?
Well, we’ll never know – here’s how it looks these days:

Empty empty empty.
Oh well…
I’ll get some more screen grabs and make some more posts from this movie later on.
In the meantime, check out all the locations – there are lots and lots:
In San Francisco:

*So every shark laboring at triple-five Cal can have his/her own “corner office,” of sorts, that’s why the BofA Building has that distinctive shape.

Say what you will about that highly-rated Dirty Harry film, it ably shows you what the 415 looked like back in 1971, back before it became too expensive for Hollywood to do business in San Francisco. This movie is all 100% genuine on-location San Francisco Bay Area (with the exception of the early bank heist shots).
Now these days, the Golden Gate Park’s Buffalo Paddock doesn’t have more than a half-dozen critters. There’s just a handful left, all female (the Golden Girls let’s call them), so unless Ted Turner comes through with his offer of free bison from one of his ranches in Montana or someplace, we’re going to run out of bison.
But check out how things were back in the day. They were all over. See?
You can barely make out the school bus that psychotic hippie Scorpio just hijacked:

The Marin County Bicycle Coalition wants you to come out tomorrow Friday, December 10th, 2010 to help kick off the Cal Park Bicycle Tunnel.
Learn all about bicycle tunnels in the Great White North right here from Dick Spotswood
From this…

…to this:

See you there!
“The Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC) invites the public to join in the celebration of the completion of the Cal Park Tunnel, a $27 million alternative transportation facility. The tunnel will provide a safe, easy and fast connection between San Rafael and Larkspur for bicyclists and pedestrians and will eventually accommodate the SMART train.
A ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the County of Marin and SMART will take place at the south portal (near the Century Larkspur Landing movie theater) at 3 pm on Friday, December 10, followed by bike rides through the tunnel and a post-event gathering at Marin Brewing Company.
Join us for this momentous occasion as we celebrate the completion of a major gap in Marin’s bicycle network and the North-South Greenway. The Cal Park Tunnel has been a vision of MCBC since the organization formed 12 years ago and for local bike advocates for at least a decade prior to our incorporating. The conversion of an old railroad tunnel for bicycle and pedestrian use was a dream that’s been realized, and we encourage everyone to come celebrate this major accomplishment.
Join a bicycle procession to the Cal Park Tunnel opening!

Boy, you people really stayed away from this movie when it was released earlier this year. Oh well.
Anyway, the Red Vic is showing it today, so there you go.
This one is oppressive. Each of its 122 minutes is bleak, but you got to love the beginning (the first five minutes especially), the ending, and everything inbetwixt.
Well then, here’s the consensus: “With confident pacing, a smart script, and a top-notch cast, Animal Kingdom represents the best the Australian film industry has to offer.”
O.K. then. But now let’s hear from those who don’t like/love AK.

Here are the three people so far who didn’t cotton to Animal Kingdom:
Moving Pictures magazine. Granted, no one could miss the King of the Jungle lion metaphor. Maybe it’s a bit heavy-handed, but the movie only spends about 2% of its time on it and I liked the scene with the still photos of masked robbers and the one depicting the Outback as African savannah. And those rifles you saw were actually handguns.
The Village Voice. All right, but they’re his uncles, not his cousins. Pay attention, dude.
Slant magazine. So, if you didn’t like the “laughably operatic slow-mo and portentous orchestral music” I can see how that could ruin this picture for you, but I didn’t find it laughable at all. And, by the way, where’s your Sundance Grand Jury Award, pal? O.K then.
Anyway, everybody else in the world thinks this film is excellent.

Boy, this one is oppressive. Each of its 122 minutes is bleak, but you got to love the beginning (the first five minutes especially), the ending, and everything inbetwixt.
So stop reading and make plans:
Opening in August 20:
Metreon and Clay [Perhaps your last chance to see a movie here as it's closing down at the end of August] in San Francisco
Shattuck in Berkeley
Opening in August 27:
Sequoia in Mill Valley
Cinearts in Palo Alto
Century 5 in Pleasant Hill
Santana Row in San Jose
Oh, that’s not enough to get you to buy your tickets today?
Well then , here’s the consensus: “With confident pacing, a smart script, and a top-notch cast, Animal Kingdom represents the best the Australian film industry has to offer.”
